2. You ready?
Where were you?Copy !req
3. What?Copy !req
4. Where were you?
I'm sorry, hon.Copy !req
5. I got held up
down at the Clover.Copy !req
6. Guess I kind of
lost track of time.Copy !req
7. You were drinking?Copy !req
8. Kimmy.
It was one beer.Copy !req
9. Doesn't smell like
one beer.Copy !req
10. Welp,
that's what it was.Copy !req
11. So let's go.Copy !req
12. Get in.Copy !req
13. Kim,
I'm not doin' this.Copy !req
14. Come on.
It's cold out.Copy !req
15. Let's... Let's go
get some food,Copy !req
16. go home,
split a box of McNuggets,Copy !req
17. see what's on TV.Copy !req
18. I'm just gonna walk.
(SIGHS)Copy !req
19. Really?Copy !req
20. You're gonna walk
three miles with a cello.Copy !req
21. Don't be stupid.
Get in.Copy !req
22. I'll... I'll let you choose
the radio station.Copy !req
23. Come on. (SIGHS)Copy !req
24. Kim, get in the car
right now.Copy !req
25. I said
it was one beer.Copy !req
26. You're gonna be
like this?Copy !req
27. You don't believe me?Copy !req
28. Kim, get in,
or I'm driving home.Copy !req
29. Right now,
in the car.Copy !req
30. I mean it.
I'm going.Copy !req
31. Fine.
Don't listen to me.Copy !req
32. You never listen!Copy !req
33. Freedom.Copy !req
34. Freedom to ride.Copy !req
35. Freedom to explore.Copy !req
36. Freedom to bank...Copy !req
37. The way you want to.Copy !req
38. Hi. I'm Don Wachtell,
President of Mesa Verde.Copy !req
39. For the past ten years,
our family has taken prideCopy !req
40. in helping your family
grow your savingsCopy !req
41. out here in the Southwest,
with freedom from hidden feesCopy !req
42. and freedom
to choose the account
that's right for you.Copy !req
43. Ain't that right,
Kevin?Copy !req
44. That's right, Dad.Copy !req
45. Yup!Copy !req
46. Let our family help find
your freedom... at Mesa Verde.Copy !req
47. (BUTTON CLICKS)
So, can you do it?Copy !req
48. The Media Lab
has a-a vision mixer.Copy !req
49. I think we can get the effect
that you're goin' for.Copy !req
50. And with makeup
and costumes,Copy !req
51. we can make it look like
the same time period.Copy !req
52. (CHUCKLES)
That's great.Copy !req
53. I love it. (LAUGHS)Copy !req
54. It's gonna sing.Copy !req
55. I'm sensing that
Schleprock here is gonna
puke on my parade.Copy !req
56. You want it when?Copy !req
57. Uh, as soon as possible.Copy !req
58. Tomorrow would be optimal.Copy !req
59. Let me break it down
for you, chief.Copy !req
60. You got ten spots.Copy !req
61. I count 12,
13 locations.Copy !req
62. Then there's post,
graphics,Copy !req
63. this video-effects thing
you're talking.Copy !req
64. That's, uh,
a week, maybe more.Copy !req
65. Probably more.
We have midterms.Copy !req
66. And plus we have to
lug all our stuff around.Copy !req
67. And actors,
craft service...Copy !req
68. You scout these locations?
Do I got a place to plug in?Copy !req
69. Oh, and bathrooms.
People need bathrooms.Copy !req
70. They literally need them
all the time.Copy !req
71. Whoa, whoa. Just...Copy !req
72. There's got to be
a way, right?Copy !req
73. 'Cause we're smart,Copy !req
74. so we can figure out
a way, right?Copy !req
75. Cut the number
of spots.Copy !req
76. No. It's...Copy !req
77. Shock and awe
is what I'm going for here.Copy !req
78. Anything less, no.Copy !req
79. Wh-What if you use voiceovers
instead of actors?Copy !req
80. Or if we did it
all in one location?Copy !req
81. So, no actors,
no scope, no impact.Copy !req
82. No. Just...Copy !req
83. I just feel like if we just
get out there and this...Copy !req
84. We hustle,
we can do it.Copy !req
85. We can.Copy !req
86. Dude. Can't be done.Copy !req
87. We...Copy !req
88. Dude. We can't.Copy !req
89. I mean, I don't know.
What if we did
the Superman thing?Copy !req
90. Uh, a... A what?Copy !req
91. You know, like Superman.Copy !req
92. Like, um...
Well, like a weatherman.Copy !req
93. Blue screen, I think.Copy !req
94. (LAUGHS)
You mean a green screen?Copy !req
95. Whatever. Blue, green.Copy !req
96. Just... Can we do that?Copy !req
97. You got a green screen?Copy !req
98. Rubber baby
buggy bumper.Copy !req
99. Looking good, gentlemen.
Rubber baby buggy...Copy !req
100. Red leather,
yellow leather.Copy !req
101. Red leather,
yellow leather.
Very nice.Copy !req
102. Rubber baby
buggy bumper.Copy !req
103. Rubber baby
buggy bumper.Copy !req
104. Ah, ee, ah, oh, ooh.Copy !req
105. Mah. Mah.
Mom makes meat.Copy !req
106. Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma.
Mom makes meat.Copy !req
107. Red leather,
yellow leather.Copy !req
108. Red leather, red...
Yellow.Copy !req
109. Yellow leather.
(MAN TRILLS LIPS)Copy !req
110. (SIGHS)
We're ready, ready.Copy !req
111. Oh. (CLEARS THROAT)Copy !req
112. Everyone, a lot to do,
no time to do it.Copy !req
113. Who knows their lines?Copy !req
114. Yes, I believe
I have it.Copy !req
115. Ah, I love
a man of confidence.Copy !req
116. I played Prospero
on the PlazaCopy !req
117. a month after
prostate surgery.Copy !req
118. One has to
have confidence.Copy !req
119. That's wonderful.
Uh... God bless.Copy !req
120. Now bring that confidenceCopy !req
121. right over here
to this marker on the floor.Copy !req
122. That's your spot.Copy !req
123. Do not move from it,
okay?Copy !req
124. Um, but also
don't be rigid, okay?Copy !req
125. Try to be natural.Copy !req
126. And speak to me,
you know, conversational,Copy !req
127. everyday, like a friend,
but, uh... (CLEARS THROAT)Copy !req
128. (SIGHS)
There's fear here.Copy !req
129. There's emotion.Copy !req
130. You're searching
for a hero.Copy !req
131. You know,
will no one save you?Copy !req
132. But don't hit it
too hard.Copy !req
133. Just throw it away,
but with feeling, okay?Copy !req
134. Good.
How we doin'?
Shoot this mother.Copy !req
135. All right.Copy !req
136. Oh, (CLEARS THROAT) there's
cue cards if you need 'em.Copy !req
137. But don't look at them.
Look at me, okay?Copy !req
138. But, you know,
they're there.Copy !req
139. So, roll sound.
Rolling.Copy !req
140. Camera.
Speeding.Copy !req
141. And... action.
(MUSIC STARTS)Copy !req
142. This is great.
Stand right there.Copy !req
143. You look great.Copy !req
144. Eyes open.Copy !req
145. Yeah, good, good.Copy !req
146. Can I drop your jaw?
Sideways a little.Copy !req
147. Perfect.
That's it.Copy !req
148. Press "record."
I can't...Copy !req
149. And five,
four, three, two...Copy !req
150. Magic.
magic.Copy !req
151. Delicious.
You can't have the pizza
while we do the thing.Copy !req
152. Because we're trying to shoot
the commercial. That's why.
I'm gonna keep it right here.Copy !req
153. Doing something
with that thing?
Look up this way.Copy !req
154. Right? And then
stay right like that.Copy !req
155. All right, show it to me.
Boom.Copy !req
156. You're a cool guy, okay,
but not too cool.Copy !req
157. I need you
to be relatable.Copy !req
158. Give me that Fonz.
All right, good.Copy !req
159. Put it down.
Nobody's buying it.Copy !req
160. Okay, the cane, I think,
is a little too much.Copy !req
161. Can I have it?Copy !req
162. And five, four,
three, two, magic.
What?Copy !req
163. need it.Copy !req
164. Let go.
Just... Really, okay?Copy !req
165. You look very,
very officious, okay?Copy !req
166. All right, can you
smile warmly? No?Copy !req
167. I'm trying to direct.Copy !req
168. That's good.
Get out of the way.Copy !req
169. Okay.
Get out of the way.Copy !req
170. And... acting.Copy !req
171. Cool, all right?
Do that. Ready? Yeah.Copy !req
172. Yeah, like this.Copy !req
173. Too much, uh...
Put your hand right...
Yeah, yeah.Copy !req
174. Stand on the X.
This is great.Copy !req
175. Smile.
(CRUNCHES FOOD)Copy !req
176. Turn sideways.Copy !req
177. Take your Coke
out of her hand.Copy !req
178. And now look sad, glum.Copy !req
179. Mmm.Copy !req
180. And then
when I say "action,"
you look here.Copy !req
181. No. Faster.Copy !req
182. Make it a whip...
Whip your head.Copy !req
183. Up here, and then...
Go! Action.Copy !req
184. Look back. Okay.
Anyone else?Copy !req
185. So that they
don't reflect, okay?Copy !req
186. That looks normal.
Look right in.Copy !req
187. Look at me.
Point.Copy !req
188. No. Like this.Copy !req
189. More, more.Copy !req
190. Good.
Make it look real.Copy !req
191. And... cut!Copy !req
192. Beautiful.
(MUSIC ENDS)Copy !req
193. I'm Saul Goodman.
Did you or...Copy !req
194. Hold on. Hold on.Copy !req
195. You came. I'm sorry.
You missed most of it.Copy !req
196. I'm almost through my part.
Now, you comin' in?Copy !req
197. 'Cause, hey, we still got
a slice or two of pizza left.Copy !req
198. Uh, no. I-I-I-I ate
at the office.Copy !req
199. I'm good.
You sure?Copy !req
200. 'Cause it's,
um, cold pizzaCopy !req
201. fondled by
community theater actors.Copy !req
202. You gonna pass
on that.
(CHUCKLES)Copy !req
203. Yeah,
I think I will pass.Copy !req
204. I just...
I just wanted to talk.Copy !req
205. Talk? Yeah, sure.Copy !req
206. Of course.
Uh, five.Copy !req
207. Good news...
I tracked down Olivia Bitsui.Copy !req
208. She is 92 years young.Copy !req
209. She's part of
the Navajo Nation.Copy !req
210. She lives
out by Window Rock.Copy !req
211. I'm gonna call her
first thing in the morning,Copy !req
212. hopefully have
a face-to-face.Copy !req
213. Jimmy...Copy !req
214. Think I'm gonna bring
a floral arrangementCopy !req
215. or maybe a cake assortment
from Brother's Bakery.Copy !req
216. Good idea.
Jimmy, d-do you think...Copy !req
217. Will Acker settle
for $75,000?Copy !req
218. $75,000?
Yeah.Copy !req
219. Will he go for it?Copy !req
220. Are you saying
that Kevin is willingCopy !req
221. to go
up to $75,000 on this?Copy !req
222. I... (STAMMERS)Copy !req
223. Look, we'll negotiate
as far up as we can,Copy !req
224. and then I'll make up
the difference.Copy !req
225. Wait. Hold on.Copy !req
226. Y-You'll make up
the differenceCopy !req
227. as in "out of your own pocket"
make up the difference?Copy !req
228. I... Yes.Copy !req
229. I just need
to end this now
and move on.Copy !req
230. But why?Copy !req
231. No, hey,
we have him.Copy !req
232. Rich is suspicious.Copy !req
233. He said some things.Copy !req
234. He's second-guessing
how you got to be
Acker's lawyerCopy !req
235. and questioning
my intentions,Copy !req
236. enough to want me
off the case.Copy !req
237. We move forward
with this,Copy !req
238. Rich is gonna figure out
what's happening.Copy !req
239. Here's the truth.Copy !req
240. Rich knows nothing.Copy !req
241. Well, not yet, no.
Not ever.Copy !req
242. He has nothing.Copy !req
243. There's no way
to prove anything.Copy !req
244. You may be right.Copy !req
245. But it's just
not worth it.Copy !req
246. But... what about
the play here?Copy !req
247. The play
is beautiful.Copy !req
248. God, this is like watching
a walk-off home runCopy !req
249. just drift foul.Copy !req
250. Ugh.Copy !req
251. It's your play.Copy !req
252. If you want to walk,
we'll walk.Copy !req
253. So, I got to...
I got to break it
to the kids.Copy !req
254. Well, there's a lot
to clean upCopy !req
255. before Mrs. Ngyuen can open
in the morning, so...Copy !req
256. I'll help.
No.Copy !req
257. You've been
all day at work.Copy !req
258. Jimmy, you're out here
doing all this because of me.Copy !req
259. I'm helping.Copy !req
260. All right,
just don't touch
the camera.Copy !req
261. He claims
it's an extension
of his body.Copy !req
262. Noted.Copy !req
263. You're Michael?Copy !req
264. The gringo
Lalo had a bug
up his ass about.Copy !req
265. If Hector or the cousins
ever find out about...Copy !req
266. They're not
gonna find out.Copy !req
267. Get on with it.Copy !req
268. Lalo's using
his C.I. connection.Copy !req
269. He's having
Domingo call the DEA
to rat out your dealers.Copy !req
270. Times they're slinging,
locations.Copy !req
271. Your guys
are gonna get swept up.Copy !req
272. Promote
low-level dealers...Copy !req
273. Or find new ones.Copy !req
274. Let them get arrested.Copy !req
275. Protect our people.Copy !req
276. You got it.Copy !req
277. What else?Copy !req
278. He talks about
a lot of things.Copy !req
279. Um...Copy !req
280. Hitting your supply trucks,
going after your restaurants,Copy !req
281. getting your customers sick,
cutting off power,Copy !req
282. busting open pipes.Copy !req
283. He's gonna chip away
at your businessCopy !req
284. until the bosses down southCopy !req
285. don't think
you're worth the trouble.Copy !req
286. From now on,
you report to this man.Copy !req
287. He needs you?Copy !req
288. You do not hesitate.Copy !req
289. Act.Copy !req
290. Guessing there's
something you want
to get off your chest.Copy !req
291. You know who you're
workin' for, right?Copy !req
292. The shit
that this guy does?Copy !req
293. They shot me,Copy !req
294. left me bleeding out
in the desert,Copy !req
295. all part
of some plan.Copy !req
296. I don't know
what to tell you.Copy !req
297. I warned you.Copy !req
298. What?Copy !req
299. I warned you when
you started going
after Hector SalamancaCopy !req
300. there'd be others
to worry about.Copy !req
301. You made a choice.Copy !req
302. You got in
with both eyes open.Copy !req
303. My father didn't.Copy !req
304. He's got a gun
to my father's head.Copy !req
305. I don't do
what he says...Copy !req
306. Look...Copy !req
307. First things first.Copy !req
308. We take care of Lalo.Copy !req
309. Then we'll talk.Copy !req
310. Paige, you've got
Kim, Rich, and Marcie.Copy !req
311. Guys, I hope
you're calling with good news.Copy !req
312. You sitting down?Copy !req
313. Oh, God. Really?Copy !req
314. Yep. Acker's
decided to settle.Copy !req
315. Tell Kevin
he's got his call center.Copy !req
316. Fantastic.Copy !req
317. Kevin will be
over the moon.Copy !req
318. When is it official?Copy !req
319. There's a meeting
on the booksCopy !req
320. with Mr. Goodman
for Wednesday at 3:00.Copy !req
321. Music to my ears.Copy !req
322. Kevin's gonna wanna
be there to close
this out and celebrate.Copy !req
323. I can't wait.Copy !req
324. Congrats, Paige.Copy !req
325. Congrats to you guys.Copy !req
326. Kim, this was
another tough one,Copy !req
327. but you did it again.Copy !req
328. A team effort.Copy !req
329. We'll e-mail you
the details.Copy !req
330. Great.
Talk soon.Copy !req
331. (RECEIVER CLATTERS)
Okay.Copy !req
332. Well, now
that that's behind us
and I have you here,Copy !req
333. I want to talk to Jason
in Charlotte,Copy !req
334. walk us through these
Fannie and Freddie changes.Copy !req
335. Dorothy, can you set up
that North Carolina call?Copy !req
336. Actually, before
we do that, c...
Sorry.Copy !req
337. Marcie, would you
give us a minute?Copy !req
338. Oh. Sure, absolutely.Copy !req
339. Dorothy, hold off
on that call, please.Copy !req
340. Thanks.Copy !req
341. I, uh...
(DOOR CLOSES)Copy !req
342. I wanted
to talk about yesterday.Copy !req
343. Rich, you've been
nothing but generous to me.Copy !req
344. And you don't deserve
to be yelled at.Copy !req
345. It was unprofessional.Copy !req
346. I believe me
staying on the case
was the right thing,Copy !req
347. but that was
the wrong way to react.Copy !req
348. (CHUCKLES)
That's it.Copy !req
349. Just that I'm sorry.Copy !req
350. Hmm.Copy !req
351. Kim...Copy !req
352. You have a bone to pick
with me, pick away.Copy !req
353. In fact,
you want to lose your shit,
that's all right, too.Copy !req
354. I'm not perfect.
I've broken
plenty of times.Copy !req
355. But never
in front of the troops.Copy !req
356. I don't
have to spell outCopy !req
357. what it does
for morale, confidence.Copy !req
358. Never again.Copy !req
359. Hi.Copy !req
360. Yeah, no, let's punt
the call to Charlotte
to another time.Copy !req
361. Also, cancel my 12:30,
but keep the reservation.Copy !req
362. Yeah, that's right.Copy !req
363. Thanks.Copy !req
364. You and me?Copy !req
365. We're going to lunch,Copy !req
366. and everyone
is gonna see us.Copy !req
367. Good?Copy !req
368. Good.
(DOOR OPENS)Copy !req
369. All right, then.
After you.Copy !req
370. Hi.
Hi.Copy !req
371. Excuse me.Copy !req
372. Are these really
only a quarter each?Copy !req
373. That's right.
Why so cheap?Copy !req
374. Is there some kind of damage
I'm not seeing?
No.Copy !req
375. We get lots of donations,
books we already have,Copy !req
376. and there's
just not enough room
on the shelves,Copy !req
377. so we sell what we can
to pay for newer releases.Copy !req
378. Wow.Copy !req
379. Well, you're kidding me.Copy !req
380. Treasure Island.Copy !req
381. Yeah.Copy !req
382. And The Little Prince.Copy !req
383. Mm.Copy !req
384. My granddaughter's
gonna love these.Copy !req
385. All right, well,
I will start with...Copy !req
386. Eight.Copy !req
387. All right, eight.
That's $2.Copy !req
388. Yes, ma'am.Copy !req
389. Thank you.
Do you need a bag?Copy !req
390. No. I'm fine.
Thank you.Copy !req
391. May I ask...Copy !req
392. Is there
a Lillian Simmons
working here?Copy !req
393. Yes. I'm Lily.Copy !req
394. Lily. Great.Copy !req
395. My name's Dave Clark.Copy !req
396. I'm a
private investigator.Copy !req
397. Oh.Copy !req
398. Is this about
Travel Wire?Copy !req
399. That's right.Copy !req
400. I already told the police
everything I saw,
which wasn't much.Copy !req
401. You saw
a man with a mustache,Copy !req
402. dark hair,
kind of tall.Copy !req
403. I'm not
even sure anymore.Copy !req
404. It was through
two sets of glass,Copy !req
405. and he was
leaning over a desk.Copy !req
406. Uh-huh.
Are you free to sit
and talk somewhere,Copy !req
407. see if you remember
any other details?Copy !req
408. As I said,Copy !req
409. I told the police
everything I could remember.Copy !req
410. Oh, I know.Copy !req
411. And the police
are doing their best
with that information.Copy !req
412. But I've been hired
by the family.Copy !req
413. And I am trying
to help them find...Copy !req
414. They're looking
for closure, Lily.Copy !req
415. Anything to
bring them peace.Copy !req
416. I send money
back to my parents
back in Taiwan.Copy !req
417. I-I do it every month.Copy !req
418. Fred was always there.Copy !req
419. We didn't really talk much,
but he was efficient.Copy !req
420. So, you see that man inside
on the day in question.Copy !req
421. That's right.Copy !req
422. The door sign
was flipped "closed,"Copy !req
423. which it never was.Copy !req
424. And then the man
pointed at the sign
and waved me off.Copy !req
425. I don't know.Copy !req
426. I thought they were
having Internet problems
or something.Copy !req
427. I came back
20 minutes later.Copy !req
428. Oh, it was horrible.Copy !req
429. Thick black smoke
and flames.Copy !req
430. And the man
with the mustache,Copy !req
431. you didn't seem him
when you returned.Copy !req
432. No.Copy !req
433. I got there just
as the fire engines
were arriving.Copy !req
434. Well, let's talk about
when you first got there.Copy !req
435. You drove,
I assume.Copy !req
436. Yes.
Where'd you park?Copy !req
437. Right out front,Copy !req
438. just to the right
of the entrance.Copy !req
439. Where there any other cars
parked there?Copy !req
440. Um, a few.Copy !req
441. The normal amount.
Mm-hmm.Copy !req
442. Any unusual
or unique cars?Copy !req
443. Unusual?Copy !req
444. Older cars,
classic cars,Copy !req
445. something you might
not see every day.Copy !req
446. Actually,
I think there was.Copy !req
447. You remember what kind?Copy !req
448. Oh, I don't
really know cars.Copy !req
449. It had four wheels.Copy !req
450. Okay.Copy !req
451. That look familiar?Copy !req
452. Is this the car?Copy !req
453. Um...Copy !req
454. That's not
for me to say.Copy !req
455. Um...Copy !req
456. Yes, now that
I look at it, yes,Copy !req
457. that was
the type of car it was.
Uh-huh.Copy !req
458. A customized
1970 Monte Carlo?Copy !req
459. Okay.
(CHUCKLES)Copy !req
460. And that is
a huge help, Lily.Copy !req
461. Thank you very much.Copy !req
462. Oh, good.Copy !req
463. Anything for
that poor family.Copy !req
464. Uh, there is
something else.
Yes?Copy !req
465. Uh, if you were able
to call the detectives
who interviewed youCopy !req
466. and pass this along
firsthand,Copy !req
467. tell them
that you remember
that detail?Copy !req
468. That was so long ago.Copy !req
469. I don't think
I can remember
who I spoke to.Copy !req
470. Well,
I have that right here.Copy !req
471. Detective Tim Roberts.Copy !req
472. That's his number.Copy !req
473. Probably catch him
at his desk right now.Copy !req
474. Oh, okay.Copy !req
475. A gray 1970
Chevrolet Monte Carlo.Copy !req
476. Gray?
Mm-hmm.Copy !req
477. And if you don't mind,
don't mention my name.Copy !req
478. Police get a little funny
about private investigatorsCopy !req
479. horning in
on their business.Copy !req
480. They can have
all the credit.Copy !req
481. I only want justice.Copy !req
482. Oh, absolutely.Copy !req
483. I understand.Copy !req
484. Thank you,
Lillian.Copy !req
485. Count your lucky stars
we got Judge Papadoumian.Copy !req
486. She likes my flair.Copy !req
487. Baby, you went
the extra mile
for us today.Copy !req
488. Don't think
I didn't notice.Copy !req
489. Hey, you want
a quick rub-n-tug?Copy !req
490. Just to say "thanks"?Copy !req
491. Uh...Copy !req
492. We won't
mess up your suit
or nothin'.Copy !req
493. We'll clean you up nice
with a warm towel.Copy !req
494. A warm towel.Copy !req
495. I appreciate the offer,
but I'm gonna...Copy !req
496. I'm gonna politely decline,
if that's okay.Copy !req
497. Rain check.Copy !req
498. Well, we gotta get
back to it anyway.Copy !req
499. Almost lunchtime.
Oh.Copy !req
500. Oh, um...Copy !req
501. Hey, do you two think
that maybe...Copy !req
502. Maybe you should
take a break?Copy !req
503. You don't see restaurants
closin' doors at noon, do ya?Copy !req
504. Lunch is peak traffic.Copy !req
505. Just be careful,
all right?Copy !req
506. And try not
to get picked up
again, okay?Copy !req
507. Okay. (CHUCKLES)Copy !req
508. Ladies, hey!
Ladies.Copy !req
509. Uh...Copy !req
510. Hey, um, how much for,
uh, an hour of your time?Copy !req
511. Excuse me.
Judge Greene.Copy !req
512. I keep hearing
the news.Copy !req
513. A hole in one
at Sandia?Copy !req
514. I don't want to say
it was all luck...Copy !req
515. Then don't say
another word.Copy !req
516. U.S. Open,
here we come.Copy !req
517. Cliff.
Been waiting long?Copy !req
518. Not at all.
You're right on time.Copy !req
519. Uh, thank you,
Francisco.Copy !req
520. Saw you shaking hands
with Judge Greene.Copy !req
521. I don't know if you heard
about his retiring.Copy !req
522. No. Retiring?
Yep.Copy !req
523. "Retiring" with
his 22-year-old law clerk.Copy !req
524. Really?Copy !req
525. Wow.Copy !req
526. Guess she's been filing
a different type of "brief"
for the judge,Copy !req
527. now, hasn't she?
Very good.Copy !req
528. Let's hear more about
that "hole in one."Copy !req
529. Gentlemen, can I round up
some drinks for the table?Copy !req
530. Absolutely.Copy !req
531. More time with the menu, or
you ready to pull the trigger?
Let's do it.Copy !req
532. And I'll have
a martini, very dry...Copy !req
533. I hear S&C
are following
the playbook.Copy !req
534. Erin and the gang
already had a jumpCopy !req
535. on redrafting
the complaint,Copy !req
536. but then another box
of receipts were
suddenly discovered.Copy !req
537. What are you hearing
from Kiley?Copy !req
538. Uh...Copy !req
539. Can I help you?Copy !req
540. Howie.Copy !req
541. You know.Copy !req
542. I, uh...
No, I-I don't know.Copy !req
543. Oh, don't try to play us
like that, Howie.Copy !req
544. Mmm-mmm.Copy !req
545. Uh, this is...
I don't know them.Copy !req
546. Ladies,
I don't know you.Copy !req
547. This is
some sort of mistake.Copy !req
548. Yeah, we made a mistake,
all right.Copy !req
549. Joe Dog ain't happy.Copy !req
550. Mmm-mmm.
You owe us.Copy !req
551. Uh, owe you?
Yeah. Owe.Copy !req
552. Mm-hmm.
You can't take a ride
on the Carnival CruiseCopy !req
553. and only pay for
a tugboat.Copy !req
554. Mmm-mmm.
You know
what I'm sayin'?Copy !req
555. I can leave
if you need...Copy !req
556. Uh, no, no.
(CLEARS THROAT)Copy !req
557. Look, I don't know
any Joe Dog
or "tugboat,"Copy !req
558. so we can end this
right now.Copy !req
559. We ain't leavin' without
our cash money, honey.Copy !req
560. Mmm-mmm.Copy !req
561. I don't know you
and owe no money to you.Copy !req
562. That's it.
(GASPS) Don't touch her!Copy !req
563. Ahh!
I didn't touch...Copy !req
564. "No, Cliff,
these are not my hookers.Copy !req
565. "Ahh.
They're somebody else's."Copy !req
566. "Howard, are you sure
they're not your hookers?Copy !req
567. "They seem to..."Copy !req
568. "No, no, Cliff, m-my hookers
were taller than these."Copy !req
569. Oh, God, I'm good.Copy !req
570. Hello?
Uh, Olivia Bitsui?Copy !req
571. Yes.
Good afternoon, ma'am.Copy !req
572. My name
is Saul Goodman.Copy !req
573. I'm an attorney
based in Albuquerque,
New Mexico.Copy !req
574. Yes. Yes, I'm a lawyer.Copy !req
575. Well, I wanted
to ask you, um,Copy !req
576. have you ever
heard of a bank
called Mesa Verde?Copy !req
577. You.Copy !req
578. What's that?Copy !req
579. I'm sorry?Copy !req
580. That. How long's
it been down there?Copy !req
581. Uh...Copy !req
582. I-I don't know.Copy !req
583. It's an
interoffice envelope.Copy !req
584. Isn't there a date?Copy !req
585. Uh, yes.
Uh, today.Copy !req
586. Today.Copy !req
587. And where's it
supposed to be today?Copy !req
588. Uh, Detective Roberts.Copy !req
589. And don't you thinkCopy !req
590. that Detective Roberts
should get it sometime today?Copy !req
591. Uh, yes, absolutely.Copy !req
592. Sorry, sir.Copy !req
593. Hmm.Copy !req
594. If the smell is coming
from under your porch,Copy !req
595. it is most likely a possum.Copy !req
596. That's right, a possum.Copy !req
597. If it's a human body,
yes, I'll investigate.Copy !req
598. But you need to call
animal control first.Copy !req
599. Yes, I'm sure.Copy !req
600. You can also shine
a flashlight
under the porchCopy !req
601. and see what's
under there yourself.Copy !req
602. Well...Copy !req
603. If the porch isn't big enough
for you to get under,Copy !req
604. then there's probably not
a dead body, okay?Copy !req
605. Yes, sir.Copy !req
606. You have a good day.Copy !req
607. Thank you for calling.
Ed!Copy !req
608. You need
to put eyes on this.Copy !req
609. Hit-and-run,Copy !req
610. same day
as our Travel Wire murder.Copy !req
611. Check out
the make of the car.Copy !req
612. 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.Copy !req
613. Same model
our librarian
just called in.Copy !req
614. What are the odds?
Who sent this?Copy !req
615. Officer McFloss?
I can't even read that.Copy !req
616. The guy rammed this car
right through a parking gate?Copy !req
617. Wow.Copy !req
618. So, we got a Monte Carlo
at a lot hereCopy !req
619. half-hour before
the murder.Copy !req
620. Leaves the scene
of the hit-and-run,Copy !req
621. headed east
towards Travel Wire.Copy !req
622. Twenty blocks.Copy !req
623. This is soundin' like
our guy.Copy !req
624. James usually run late?
He'll be here.Copy !req
625. All I care about's
getting this behind us.Copy !req
626. Done. Finito.Copy !req
627. We won't have
finalized contracts today,Copy !req
628. but we'll definitely
land on an agreement.Copy !req
629. Hello, folks.Copy !req
630. (DOOR CLOSES)
Nice to see lots
and lots of happy faces.Copy !req
631. And you, too, Rich.
Kiddin'.Copy !req
632. Jimmy.
Always a pleasure.Copy !req
633. Saul.Copy !req
634. Saul Goodman
during business hours,Copy !req
635. "s'all" the time.Copy !req
636. This is Paige Novick,
Mesa Verde's in-house counsel.Copy !req
637. Very nice to meet you.
Paige.Copy !req
638. I know
you're the oneCopy !req
639. who brought Kim Wexler
onto the team,Copy !req
640. so I consider you
the brains of the operation.Copy !req
641. I actually think
you're right about that.Copy !req
642. And this is Kevin Wachtell,
CEO of Mesa Verde.Copy !req
643. Oh. You know what?Copy !req
644. I could tell
from the impressive
belt buckle.Copy !req
645. Really looking forward
to settling this.Copy !req
646. Me too.
Let's do this.Copy !req
647. Hey, Viola.
How's it hangin'?Copy !req
648. I, uh... Good?
Cool.Copy !req
649. Just to
jump into it...
Jump away.Copy !req
650. As discussed,Copy !req
651. considering we're only
contractually obligatedCopy !req
652. to pay $5,000
on top of fair market valueCopy !req
653. for Mr. Acker's home,Copy !req
654. we believe $45,000
is more than generous.Copy !req
655. I hear that, but, um,
you and ICopy !req
656. have a different definition
of the word "generous."Copy !req
657. Because that's not
how I would describe it.Copy !req
658. And here we go.Copy !req
659. We're not prepared to offer
more than what's on the table.Copy !req
660. No, no, I-I knew
there would be dickering,Copy !req
661. so let's... Let's just hear
the number you're looking forCopy !req
662. so we can all move forward
with our lives.Copy !req
663. We'd like nothing more.Copy !req
664. What amount
are you asking?Copy !req
665. $4 million.Copy !req
666. $4 million.
Very funny.Copy !req
667. Very funny.Copy !req
668. Mr. Acker would like
to be paid $4 millionCopy !req
669. for his pain
and suffering.Copy !req
670. It's what's fair.Copy !req
671. What in the world
are you talking about?Copy !req
672. It's a four
with six zeroes,Copy !req
673. and it's preceded
by a dollar sign.Copy !req
674. We had an agreement.Copy !req
675. We had a discussion.Copy !req
676. We had
a verbal agreementCopy !req
677. on a number that both sides
would be happy with.Copy !req
678. And I discussed the offer
with my client,Copy !req
679. and he really, really
doesn't want
to leave his house,Copy !req
680. his home.Copy !req
681. $4 million is the only number
he'll be happy with.Copy !req
682. I apologize.Copy !req
683. We need
to end this meeting nowCopy !req
684. so Rich and I
can have a conversationCopy !req
685. with Mr... Goodman.Copy !req
686. Just...
Incredible nerve.Copy !req
687. (DOOR OPENS)
Ridiculous.Copy !req
688. What's your
endgame here?Copy !req
689. Because you know
you're never gonna
get that money.Copy !req
690. Wait. Wait.
Don't leave.Copy !req
691. You're not wasting
any more of their time.Copy !req
692. (CLEARS THROAT)
No, I...Copy !req
693. Kevin,
meeting's over.Copy !req
694. Not while
the gang's all here.Copy !req
695. I would love to bring up
a completely unrelated matter.Copy !req
696. Kevin,
we can handle this.Copy !req
697. No. This is really good.Copy !req
698. You're gonna want
to see this.Copy !req
699. Kevin, you wanna stick around.
Your dad's in this.Copy !req
700. What?
Kevin, I insist.Copy !req
701. This is
a waste of your time.Copy !req
702. There's only one way
to find out.Copy !req
703. Kevin, I'm advising you
to please just keep walking.Copy !req
704. No. I wanna see this.Copy !req
705. Viola, you mind
getting the shades?Copy !req
706. Viola, shades, please.Copy !req
707. Here we go.Copy !req
708. Yee-haw!Copy !req
709. (SLOWED VOICE)
I'm Don WachtellCopy !req
710. (NORMAL VOICE)
President of Mesa Verde.Copy !req
711. My bank took my home
over a technicality,Copy !req
712. and I never missed
a single payment.Copy !req
713. It's not right.
It's un-American.Copy !req
714. Yup!Copy !req
715. Hi. I'm Saul Goodman.Copy !req
716. Have you or a family member
been wrongfully evicted
from your home by Mesa Verde?Copy !req
717. Then you may be entitled
to a large cash settlement.
(CASH REGISTER DINGS)Copy !req
718. Call 505-503-4455 today!
(COINS CLINKING)Copy !req
719. Are you kidding me?
None of that is true.Copy !req
720. MR.You can't
air this. It's libel.
It's defamation!Copy !req
721. MR.It's libel,
and we will sue you.Copy !req
722. That's my father
you're making a fool of.
Yee-haw!Copy !req
723. Jimmy, turn it off.
You know you can't do this.Copy !req
724. Shh. This is a good one.
(SLOWED VOICE)
I'm Don Wachtell.Copy !req
725. I went into my bank
to withdraw cash
for groceries,Copy !req
726. and I came out with a rash.Copy !req
727. I-I can't stop itchin'.Copy !req
728. It's everywhere.
Yup!Copy !req
729. Hi. I'm Saul Goodman.Copy !req
730. Did you or a family member
visit a Mesa Verde branchCopy !req
731. and come into contact
with black mold?Copy !req
732. Then you may be entitled
to a large cash settlement.Copy !req
733. (CASH REGISTER DINGS)
There's no way in hell
you can legally run these.Copy !req
734. Call 505-503-4455 today!
Mm. Maybe.Copy !req
735. But, you know,
we'll fight it outCopy !req
736. after they run in New Mexico,
Arizona, Utah, Tex...
Yee-haw!Copy !req
737. No, no, no, we will
stop it before
it ever gets that far.Copy !req
738. Some might call that
prior restraint.Copy !req
739. You know what?
You can stop us.Copy !req
740. Some news outlet
will pick it up.Copy !req
741. They'll run for free.Copy !req
742. I went into my bank
to open my safety deposit box,Copy !req
743. and Mr. (BUZZING) was standing
there with his pants down!Copy !req
744. Bare genitals.
Yup!Copy !req
745. My dad never,
ever did anything like that.Copy !req
746. None of this is true.
This is all fantasy.Copy !req
747. It doesn't matter.Copy !req
748. This trash airs,
our reputation
is in the toilet.Copy !req
749. It'll never,
ever get that far.Copy !req
750. Shh.Copy !req
751. And, hey, yee-haw!Copy !req
752. (SLOWED VOICE)
I'm Don Wachtell.Copy !req
753. The bank manager
couldn't explainCopy !req
754. where all the extra fees
were going,Copy !req
755. so I followed the money trail.Copy !req
756. The evidence
was as clear as day.Copy !req
757. My bank was funding terrorism.
Yup!Copy !req
758. Stop.
Stop it!
Hi. I'm Saul Goodman.Copy !req
759. I've seen enough of
this horseshit. Jesus.Copy !req
760. are being used
to help America's...
There's lots more.Copy !req
761. You know what? I can
leave you this one because
I've got plenty of copies.Copy !req
762. What do you
hope to gain
with all this?Copy !req
763. We agree to Acker's
ridiculous demandsCopy !req
764. and you don't run
this garbage?Copy !req
765. It's illegal to do that.Copy !req
766. No lawyer can play
one case off another.Copy !req
767. It is unethical,
and it is blackmail.Copy !req
768. She's right.Copy !req
769. One has absolutely
nothing to do
with the other,Copy !req
770. which leads me
to my next topic.Copy !req
771. This is Olivia Bitsui.Copy !req
772. She's a photographer.Copy !req
773. In fact, she took
this self-portrait.Copy !req
774. It's really lovely.Copy !req
775. Here's another picture
she took 54 years ago.Copy !req
776. Kevin, say nothing.Copy !req
777. No, Kim, I got this...Copy !req
778. Kevin, I'm strongly
advising you...Copy !req
779. I know this picture.
Kevin!Copy !req
780. My dad bought it
fair and square.Copy !req
781. I have a copy of it
hanging in my office at home.Copy !req
782. I think we all just heard
Mr. Wachtell admitCopy !req
783. that he owns a copy
of Olivia Bitsui's photo,Copy !req
784. a photo that looks
remarkably likeCopy !req
785. the official
Mesa Verde logo.Copy !req
786. That's right.
We own it!Copy !req
787. You own
a copy of the photo.Copy !req
788. You don't own
the rights to it.Copy !req
789. That's copyright
infringement.Copy !req
790. You'll never be able
to prove that.Copy !req
791. Well, you know what?Copy !req
792. (EXHALES SHARPLY) Wow.Copy !req
793. Looks like
a mirror image there.Copy !req
794. So I think I can convince
a judge and probably a juryCopy !req
795. that Mesa Verde
misappropriatedCopy !req
796. Ms. Bitsui's
intellectual property.Copy !req
797. It's not your fault.
Sins of the father.Copy !req
798. But, um, we filed
an injunction,Copy !req
799. so you're gonna
have to take down
all your horsey logosCopy !req
800. or throw
a big tarp over 'emCopy !req
801. till we can
get this thing settled.Copy !req
802. Shouldn't take
more than...Copy !req
803. I don't know,
a couple years?Copy !req
804. We'll be seein'
a lot of each other.Copy !req
805. Till next time.Copy !req
806. Yeah, the problem
we're facing is thatCopy !req
807. none of the so-called victims
said, "Mesa Verde did this,"Copy !req
808. But it's in front
of our images,
our logo.Copy !req
809. Yes, Paige,
it's all heavily inferred,Copy !req
810. but it's done in a way
to keep us wrangling
in the courts.Copy !req
811. We'll be there forever,
going 'round and 'round.Copy !req
812. So, how do we keep
them off the air?
We're... (SIGHS)Copy !req
813. We're gonna have to
get ahead of him.
How?Copy !req
814. We notify the stations
that... That...Copy !req
815. That they're susceptible
to a libel suit if they air.Copy !req
816. MR.It might
an extended game
of whack-a-mole.Copy !req
817. Rich, any way you slice this,
it's a long-haul battle.Copy !req
818. We have to take things
one at a time.Copy !req
819. Meanwhile, we have to counter
the copyright injunction.Copy !req
820. I mean,
do we need to discuss libel?
We can start with that.Copy !req
821. That's straightforward.
Do we need
to discuss terrorism?Copy !req
822. Kevin.
MR. Kevin!Copy !req
823. Kevin, Kevin,
I know you're upset,Copy !req
824. but please
don't do anything rash.Copy !req
825. Let your lawyers
take care of it.Copy !req
826. We'll fix this.Copy !req
827. Kim, can I just go
to the men's room?Copy !req
828. Of course. Yeah.Copy !req
829. MR. Okay, now,
with the copyright
infringement, I think we...Copy !req
830. 505-503-4455...Copy !req
831. (ELEVATOR DINGS)
today.Copy !req
832. Where are you?Copy !req
833. pretty
well ironed out...Copy !req
834. Stay there.Copy !req
835. (SIGHS)
What'll it take?Copy !req
836. Oh, you're gonna have
to be more specific.Copy !req
837. I let Acker stay
in his shitty little houseCopy !req
838. and I move
my call centerCopy !req
839. and all the rest of it
goes away?Copy !req
840. Is that the game?
Uhp.Copy !req
841. As your counselor,
Ms. Wexler informed youCopy !req
842. I'm not allowed
to do that.Copy !req
843. Gimme a break.Copy !req
844. You're
a third-rate hucksterCopy !req
845. who'd sell your
own mother's organs
to get what you want.Copy !req
846. What will it take?Copy !req
847. Mind you, again,
I'm not actually allowedCopy !req
848. to do any of this,
not intentionally.Copy !req
849. Cut to the chase,
jackass.Copy !req
850. Well, Kevin, would you...
Would you close your eyesCopy !req
851. and imagine a world
with me?Copy !req
852. Just if you...Copy !req
853. It's a world where Mr. Acker
gets to keep his house,Copy !req
854. plus the $45,000
you were gonna pay himCopy !req
855. for his pain
and suffering.Copy !req
856. And in this world,Copy !req
857. you throw in
a public apology.Copy !req
858. And imagine a worldCopy !req
859. where a Native American
photographer, Olive Bitsui,Copy !req
860. is compensated $200,000
for the use of her photo,Copy !req
861. in addition to receiving
future creditCopy !req
862. for the inspiration and use
of the logo from Mesa Verde.Copy !req
863. Also, you know what?Copy !req
864. Throw in a public
apology for Ms. Bitsui
while you're at it.Copy !req
865. And then...
Then I can imagine
a worldCopy !req
866. where the injunction
disappears.Copy !req
867. And those commercials...Copy !req
868. Oh, they'll never see
the light of day.Copy !req
869. And, poof,
away they go into a vault,Copy !req
870. never to be seen
by mortal eyes again.Copy !req
871. What do you think
of that world,
huh, Kevin?Copy !req
872. You can
open your eyes now.Copy !req
873. (CHUCKLES)
Can you imagine a worldCopy !req
874. where we shake hands
on that, man to man?Copy !req
875. Yeah,
he just dropped me off.Copy !req
876. Usual route,
going south.Copy !req
877. Uh-huh.Copy !req
878. Baker 2-4-1 PD.Copy !req
879. Baker 2-4-1.
Go ahead.Copy !req
880. Ran a 26, got a hit
on a New Mexico plate...Copy !req
881. 1-Victor-1,
5-Robert-Zebra.Copy !req
882. Gray Monte Carlo
occupied by one male.Copy !req
883. Last seen headed
south on Brighton
towards Lawrence.Copy !req
884. Units stand by
for an attempt to locateCopy !req
885. on a gray Monte Carlo
occupied by one.Copy !req
886. Last seen
in the area of...Copy !req
887. (ON LOUDSPEAKER)
Turn off the vehicleCopy !req
888. and drop the keys
out the window.Copy !req
889. Turn the vehicle off
and drop the keys out now.Copy !req
890. Hey.Copy !req
891. How'd it go?Copy !req
892. That was pretty perfect,
right?Copy !req
893. Kim, uh...Copy !req
894. Kim.Copy !req
895. Look, apologies,
all right?Copy !req
896. I'm... I'm sorry
for sandbagging youCopy !req
897. with the ol' switcheroo.Copy !req
898. I-I should have
warned you.Copy !req
899. But you know what?Copy !req
900. You being angry at me,
that worked.Copy !req
901. You were concerned
that Rich was suspicious.Copy !req
902. Did he say anything?Copy !req
903. No.
Great. See?Copy !req
904. That anger,
real anger,Copy !req
905. it worked like a protective
immunity shield, you know?Copy !req
906. I mean, hey,
emotion like that,Copy !req
907. you can't fake it.Copy !req
908. No. You can't.Copy !req
909. Yeah, right?Copy !req
910. So, what'd Kevin say?Copy !req
911. Uh...Copy !req
912. He said
he was tired of lawyers.Copy !req
913. Wait. Wait. Do the voice.
You got to do the voice.Copy !req
914. Kevin is sick
of lawyers,Copy !req
915. wants to be done
with all of it.Copy !req
916. We explained that
your agreement
is non-binding,Copy !req
917. but he doesn't care.Copy !req
918. He's sticking
with the handshake.Copy !req
919. Boom! There ya go.Copy !req
920. That's a plan cooked
and served
to juicy perfection.Copy !req
921. We... We should celebrate.
Really.Copy !req
922. We'll go
to a steakhouse,Copy !req
923. get a couple bottles
of red wine,Copy !req
924. some Tiramisu,
the whole nine yards.Copy !req
925. Okay, Kim, look,
I said I was sorry.Copy !req
926. And, again, it worked.Copy !req
927. No way that Rich
or Paige could believe
that we were in cahootsCopy !req
928. 'cause guess what,
we weren't.Copy !req
929. (CLEARS THROAT)
Acker gets
to keep his home,Copy !req
930. plus a nice
chunk of change.Copy !req
931. Olivia Bitsui
gets reparations
for being cheated.Copy !req
932. And Kevin still gets
his call center.Copy !req
933. Everybody wins.Copy !req
934. You win, Jimmy.
What?Copy !req
935. You win.Copy !req
936. Uh, yeah.Copy !req
937. But, I mean,
well, we win.Copy !req
938. Us.Copy !req
939. No. I didn't.Copy !req
940. What didn't you get
that you wanted?Copy !req
941. I don't trust you.Copy !req
942. Why?Copy !req
943. You played me.Copy !req
944. You made me the sucker...
Again.Copy !req
945. Again? What...Copy !req
946. Wait. How can you
be the sucker?
It was your plan.Copy !req
947. Oh, fuck you, Jimmy.Copy !req
948. God.Copy !req
949. I... Uh, you know what?Copy !req
950. I can't
do this anymore.Copy !req
951. Kim, I was just...Copy !req
952. No, you... You turned
you and me versus the bankCopy !req
953. into you versus me.Copy !req
954. And it is not
just this.Copy !req
955. It's the same thing
over and over again.Copy !req
956. No, I kept things from you
to protect you.Copy !req
957. Look, if I got caught and...
God forbid...Copy !req
958. You're questioned
under oath,Copy !req
959. you have
plausible deniability.Copy !req
960. Jesus, Jimmy.Copy !req
961. You can excuse
stabbing me in the backCopy !req
962. by making it about
protecting me?Copy !req
963. Is that... Is that
really supposed to
justify everything?Copy !req
964. Okay, Kim, I'm sorry.Copy !req
965. (SCOFFS)
I'm sorry, all right?Copy !req
966. It... It will never
happen again.Copy !req
967. That's a lie.Copy !req
968. Well, I swear.
I swear it won't.Copy !req
969. Look me in the eye
and tell me
it'll never happen again.Copy !req
970. You can't.Copy !req
971. I don't believe you.Copy !req
972. You don't
believe yourself.Copy !req
973. It is a lie.Copy !req
974. You lie. I lie.Copy !req
975. This has to end.Copy !req
976. I-I-I cannot
keep living like this.
No, no.Copy !req
977. No, no, Kim,
we can fix this.
Jimmy, no, shut up.Copy !req
978. Jimmy, Jimmy,
you know this
has to change.Copy !req
979. If you don't see it,
I don't know what to sayCopy !req
980. because we are at
a breaking point.Copy !req
981. Oh, God!
Either we end this now...Copy !req
982. No!
Either we end this nowCopy !req
983. and (VOICE BREAKING)
enjoy the time we hadCopy !req
984. and go our separate ways,
or we're...Copy !req
985. (EXHALES SHARPLY)
Or what?Copy !req
986. Or we're...
We're... I mean...Copy !req
987. Or maybe...Copy !req
988. Maybe we get married.Copy !req
