1. Once again,
I do all the talking.Copy !req
2. That's the only way
this works.Copy !req
3. Hand it over.Copy !req
4. Now, before that happens...Copy !req
5. Hand it over!Copy !req
6. Hey, I've got it
right here.Copy !req
7. Is this it?Copy !req
8. I will take that as a yes.Copy !req
9. Very well,
mystery solved.Copy !req
10. I could take you
into custody right now,
you son of a bitch.Copy !req
11. Both of you.Copy !req
12. Whoa! Where's this
coming from?Copy !req
13. You're the one
who spilled the coffee,Copy !req
14. You ambulance-chasing
piece of shit!Copy !req
15. Can we dial it down,
you know, just a notch?Copy !req
16. Look, 45 minutes ago,
I'm sound asleep.Copy !req
17. I get a call from
mr. Ehrmantraut,
he's concerned.Copy !req
18. He's getting threatening
voicemails from youCopy !req
19. Accusing him
of petty theft.Copy !req
20. I tell him,
"hey, we're gonna
nip this in the bud.Copy !req
21. "I don't care
what the hell time it is,Copy !req
22. "we're gonna go
talk this thing out."Copy !req
23. And walking across
the parking lot just now...
Boom!Copy !req
24. There's a notepad,
plain as day,
lying on the asphalt.Copy !req
25. Where, I can only surmise,Copy !req
26. You accidentally
dropped it, detective.Copy !req
27. Now, guys, that's...
That's all we know.Copy !req
28. Let me tell you
something, slick.Copy !req
29. Wait till I get you
back to philadelphia.Copy !req
30. I'm confused.Copy !req
31. The state of pennsylvania
can extradite peopleCopy !req
32. For returning
lost property? Wow!Copy !req
33. That is one
bold legislature.Copy !req
34. Anything you wanna
say to me about
what you found in here? Hmm?Copy !req
35. Now that it's all
out in the open?Copy !req
36. Maybe your daughter-in-law.Copy !req
37. Maybe she's got
something to tell me.Copy !req
38. Maybe.Copy !req
39. Maybe not.
Yeah. We'll see.Copy !req
40. First thing tomorrow.Copy !req
41. I mean, you gotta figure,
she wouldn't
reach out to usCopy !req
42. If she had
nothing to say.Copy !req
43. Hopefully,
whatever you areCopy !req
44. Didn't rub off
on the rest of your family.Copy !req
45. Thanks.Copy !req
46. You're welcome.
Let's get
the hell out of here.Copy !req
47. No, I mean, "thanks" as in,
"three is a crowd."Copy !req
48. You can go now.Copy !req
49. You're not talking
to my client without me.Copy !req
50. Yeah, he is.Copy !req
51. Please leave now.Copy !req
52. You ever have jet lag?Copy !req
53. I guess that's what
this is. (sighs)Copy !req
54. Maybe it's the altitude.Copy !req
55. Could be the altitude.Copy !req
56. We're a mile up, right?Copy !req
57. Sorry about the kid.Copy !req
58. He's young,
looking to make his mark.Copy !req
59. I like him.Copy !req
60. Your daughter-in-law.
What...Copy !req
61. What's she
gonna tell us?Copy !req
62. I don't honestly know.Copy !req
63. Well, mike,
if she's got
nothing to say,Copy !req
64. This pretty well
ends it here.Copy !req
65. So, maybe you should
talk to her before we do.Copy !req
66. I talked.Copy !req
67. If I were to guess,
I'd say she wouldn't
tell you much.Copy !req
68. But...Copy !req
69. Either way,
that's up to her.Copy !req
70. That's the least
I owe her.Copy !req
71. There's a lot of people
we both knowCopy !req
72. That think that
fensky got what was
coming to him.Copy !req
73. Hoffman, too.Copy !req
74. That whole precinct
was a sewer.Copy !req
75. Wouldn't be surprised
if there's a few more
early retirements.Copy !req
76. Might be a good thing.
New blood.Copy !req
77. Like the kid.Copy !req
78. Yeah.Copy !req
79. He's all right.Copy !req
80. He's just gotta learn,
that's all.Copy !req
81. Some rocks
you don't turn over.Copy !req
82. What'd you say to him?Copy !req
83. Let's go.Copy !req
84. Word for word,
verbatim,
while it's still fresh.Copy !req
85. What I said is
none of your concern.Copy !req
86. I was speaking
to a friend.Copy !req
87. (chuckles wryly)
you were speaking
to a homicide detectiveCopy !req
88. Who flew 2,000 miles
to investigate
a double murder,Copy !req
89. For which you are clearly
the prime suspect.Copy !req
90. How can you not recognize
the mind games,
the scams, the...Copy !req
91. The con jobs
these people play.Copy !req
92. You used to be
one of them.Copy !req
93. So what got said?
Right now.Copy !req
94. Come on, I'm serious!Copy !req
95. I know you're
trying to help me,
but you can't go...Copy !req
96. No, I'm trying to
help me!Copy !req
97. Those two philly
cheesesteaks,Copy !req
98. They wanna lock me up
right alongside you!Copy !req
99. So, work with me here.
For the both of us.Copy !req
100. You're safe, counselor.Copy !req
101. And I no longer
require your services.Copy !req
102. You're kidding, right?Copy !req
103. What, you think you're
gonna defend yourself?Copy !req
104. It's in
someone else's hands.Copy !req
105. What? Like god?Copy !req
106. No.Copy !req
107. Please don't say
hamlin hamlin & mcgill.Copy !req
108. I appreciate your help.
Go home. Go to bed.Copy !req
109. Send me a bill.Copy !req
110. Oh, I'm sending you my bill.
(engine starts)Copy !req
111. I'm sending it...Copy !req
112. You better believe it!Copy !req
113. It's me,
your friendly
neighborhood ice man.Copy !req
114. (shuffling)
there was a run on bacon.
I'll get you next time.Copy !req
115. Chuck? You there?Copy !req
116. Chuck?Copy !req
117. Chuck?Copy !req
118. Chuck, you up there?Copy !req
119. Hello?Copy !req
120. I'm out here!Copy !req
121. Chuck?Copy !req
122. 112, 113...Copy !req
123. Holy shit!
What are you doing?Copy !req
124. 114... Shh!Copy !req
125. 115, 116,Copy !req
126. 117, 118, 119...Copy !req
127. 120! Go! Go! Inside!Copy !req
128. What the hell was that?Copy !req
129. What the hell was that?Copy !req
130. Just give me a second.Copy !req
131. Okay.Copy !req
132. Okay.Copy !req
133. It's an experiment,
really.Copy !req
134. I've been attemptingCopy !req
135. To build up a tolerance
for electromagnetic fields.Copy !req
136. Seriously?
Yeah.Copy !req
137. Yeah, it's like...Copy !req
138. You know, like,
taking small
doses of poisonCopy !req
139. To build up
an immunity.Copy !req
140. Is that a real thing?Copy !req
141. 'cause that does not
sound like a real thing.Copy !req
142. It's a real thing.Copy !req
143. Anyway, as you well know,Copy !req
144. There's a 60 kilovolt
transformerCopy !req
145. 200 meters south-southwest
of my front yard.Copy !req
146. And I've been trying to
get acclimated to it.Copy !req
147. I got up to
two minutes today!Copy !req
148. Jesus, chuck...
Yeah.Copy !req
149. Two days ago?
I could barely
stand 30 seconds.Copy !req
150. I'm trying to get up to
five minutes by next week.Copy !req
151. That is just...Copy !req
152. But, why now?Copy !req
153. Well, after what happened
with the police
and the hospital,Copy !req
154. I almost lost everything,
jimmy.Copy !req
155. I can't go on
like this.Copy !req
156. I have to find
a way to get better.Copy !req
157. I've got to.Copy !req
158. I have to
get back to work.Copy !req
159. Sitting here,
rotting away...Copy !req
160. This is no kind
of life for me.
For anyone.Copy !req
161. I need to be useful again.Copy !req
162. Chuck, I am so proud of you.Copy !req
163. It'll be a long process,Copy !req
164. But one to which
I'm very much committed.Copy !req
165. I have to be.Copy !req
166. God, I...
I'll be right back,Copy !req
167. I gotta get a few more things
out of the car.Copy !req
168. Okay.Copy !req
169. What's all this?
It's just some
case files.Copy !req
170. I'm out of room
at the office,Copy !req
171. I don't want to
leave them in the car.Copy !req
172. There's a lot of
sensitive information.Copy !req
173. You're not planning to
leave them here?Copy !req
174. Yeah. I don't know, jimmy.Copy !req
175. It'll just be for
a little while, okay?Copy !req
176. I'm practically
sleeping on these things
back at my place.Copy !req
177. Business is that good?Copy !req
178. It's booming.
Streets of gold. Yeah.Copy !req
179. I'll get these out of here
as quick as I can.Copy !req
180. I just need to
file the 413s on
some of these wills,Copy !req
181. And I'll be
out of your hair.Copy !req
182. 413s?Copy !req
183. Personal property
statements.Copy !req
184. You mean 513s?
Yeah.Copy !req
185. Sorry. Just working
with these seniors,Copy !req
186. Maybe the dementia's
contagious, huh?
(both chuckle)Copy !req
187. Uh... (clears throat)Copy !req
188. So, uh, we good here?Copy !req
189. See you tomorrow.
Same time.Copy !req
190. James mcgill.Copy !req
191. Scott said he'd leave
the keys to 801,Copy !req
192. The suite
that's for lease?Copy !req
193. Here you go.
Just bring 'em back
when you're done.Copy !req
194. You got it.Copy !req
195. Wow. This is,
like, really nice.Copy !req
196. Why do you
sound surprised?Copy !req
197. Not surprised.
No, just...Copy !req
198. You know,
could you afford this?Copy !req
199. Oh, yeah.
Are you kidding?Copy !req
200. Those seniors have been
very good to me.Copy !req
201. And I've been meaning
to expand, you know.
(phone ringing)Copy !req
202. It's time to
invest in myself.Copy !req
203. Figure this may be
just the place.Copy !req
204. Well, won't you
miss the nail salon?Copy !req
205. Oh, I can always visit,
you know.
Get some french tips.Copy !req
206. Wow!Copy !req
207. It's a clean slate!Copy !req
208. Put the reception desk
right here.Copy !req
209. Get some comfortable
seating for the clients.Copy !req
210. It's big.
Lot of offices.Copy !req
211. Yeah, I like the openness.Copy !req
212. I feel like I can
breathe in here,
you know?Copy !req
213. It's not some
claustrophobic
little closetCopy !req
214. That smells like acetone.Copy !req
215. Room to grow.Copy !req
216. Dream big, I say.Copy !req
217. Got a decent-sized
conference room,
not as big as hamlin's,Copy !req
218. But, you know,
it's cozy.Copy !req
219. Our elderly brethren
prefer that, I find.Copy !req
220. Yeah, could be
cozier though.Copy !req
221. Maybe you could embroider
some little cushions?Copy !req
222. Crochet a runner
for the table?Copy !req
223. Rocking chairs
all around?
Yes.Copy !req
224. Make it look
like the front of
a cracker barrel. Huh?Copy !req
225. Now you're talking!Copy !req
226. This is me.Copy !req
227. I love it!Copy !req
228. Gotta look successful
to be successful, am I right?Copy !req
229. Well, this definitely
looks like success.Copy !req
230. Great view.Copy !req
231. Get you a big,
fancy desk in here.Copy !req
232. Cocobolo desk.Copy !req
233. A what?
I don't know
what it means,Copy !req
234. But I just like
saying the word "cocobolo."Copy !req
235. Okay. Well, whatever it is,
you deserve it.Copy !req
236. And I want you
to see this one.Copy !req
237. Here we are.Copy !req
238. (laughs) whoa!Copy !req
239. This is way better
than the other one.Copy !req
240. You think?
Uh... Yeah.Copy !req
241. Who goes in here?
'cause I'd be all up
in here if I were you.Copy !req
242. Yeah.Copy !req
243. Yeah. You know,
you're right.Copy !req
244. It is real nice.Copy !req
245. It's a corner office.
You gotta go with
the corner office.Copy !req
246. Saving it for someone.
Who?Copy !req
247. My partner.
Your partner? Who is...Copy !req
248. Who would that be?Copy !req
249. Well, you said you were
interested in elder law.Copy !req
250. That's...Copy !req
251. That is so...Copy !req
252. Thank you. Really.Copy !req
253. But, you know,
I've got a lot
invested at hhm.Copy !req
254. With what's going on now,Copy !req
255. I'm closer than ever
to partner.Copy !req
256. Like, maybe
two years and I'm in.Copy !req
257. Yeah, I know.Copy !req
258. Yeah, it's...Copy !req
259. It's just a thought.Copy !req
260. Plus, you know,
they put me
through law school.Copy !req
261. I feel like I owe them.Copy !req
262. Actually, I do owe them.
Literally, you know. But...Copy !req
263. It's a nice thought, jimmy.Copy !req
264. Just, you know,
playing with ideas.Copy !req
265. I had the extra office
and everything, so...Copy !req
266. Yeah. No, I get it.Copy !req
267. I want to
see the kitchen.Copy !req
268. Wow!
(sighs)Copy !req
269. They have stainless
in here!Copy !req
270. I don't even have
stainless at home!Copy !req
271. I know this is
the last thing
you want to hear.Copy !req
272. I think your
chances of gettingCopy !req
273. A favorable ruling
from a jury are very slim.Copy !req
274. What does that mean?Copy !req
275. We're not in a great
position to win at trial.Copy !req
276. But we came to you
people because we
were told you win cases.Copy !req
277. "winning" doesn't
always mean getting
a favorable verdict at trial.Copy !req
278. We try to achieve
the best possible
outcome for our clientsCopy !req
279. Given each
individual case.Copy !req
280. Frankly, we've
worked very hard
to stave off an arrest.Copy !req
281. After the misunderstanding
about your, uh, camping trip,Copy !req
282. The d.A. Was concerned
you might be a flight risk.Copy !req
283. (scoffs)
"flight risk"? We...Copy !req
284. We were practically
in our own backyard!Copy !req
285. That's exactly
what we told the d.A.Copy !req
286. In any case, I think
we've managed to
come up with a dealCopy !req
287. That is very favorable
under the circumstances.Copy !req
288. A "deal."
I hate that terminology.Copy !req
289. A "deal" is what
they got o.J.Copy !req
290. Well, betsy, maybe we should,
you know, hear it.Copy !req
291. I'm just saying,
it's terrible...Copy !req
292. What kind of "deal"?Copy !req
293. If the prosecution
decides to file,Copy !req
294. Which is
definitely the direction
this seems to be headed,Copy !req
295. And if they choose
to stack charges,Copy !req
296. Craig, you're looking at
30 years in prison.Copy !req
297. Thirty years?
That's the maximum.Copy !req
298. And given the nature
of the chargeCopy !req
299. And the current
political environment,Copy !req
300. I'd say we
should expect it.Copy !req
301. The public outcry
in cases like these
is a big factor.Copy !req
302. However, after much
discussion with the d.A.,Copy !req
303. Who is also invested
in keeping the press
to a minimum,Copy !req
304. We have arrived
at an arrangementCopy !req
305. Which would
include 16 months
in a county facility.Copy !req
306. Sixteen months?Copy !req
307. Down from 30 years.Copy !req
308. And you most likely
wouldn't serve all of it.Copy !req
309. But he would have to
say he was guilty.Copy !req
310. Admitting wrongdoingCopy !req
311. And making
the county whole again
goes a long way here.Copy !req
312. Hence the minimal sentence.Copy !req
313. "making the county
whole again"?Copy !req
314. It includes
the stipulation thatCopy !req
315. You return $1.6 million
in misappropriated funds.Copy !req
316. Give back the money?
But there is no money.Copy !req
317. There's no money.
We told you,
craig is innocent.Copy !req
318. I understand.Copy !req
319. However, I'd like to
emphasize again
that this dealCopy !req
320. Is craig's best chance
of minimizing jail time.Copy !req
321. You're telling usCopy !req
322. There are drug dealers
and murderers
walking the streets,Copy !req
323. But instead of
going after them,Copy !req
324. They want to put
an innocent man in jail?Copy !req
325. There's no other way?Copy !req
326. I'm sorry.
I think under
the circumstances,Copy !req
327. This is your best option.Copy !req
328. Murderers and rapists.
And this is how they...Copy !req
329. Okay. There is no money.Copy !req
330. There never was.
You have to
take this to trial.Copy !req
331. Look, you have
a difficult,Copy !req
332. But nevertheless,
straightforward
choice to make here.Copy !req
333. On one hand,
you give up the money,Copy !req
334. Plead...
Ah! I just told you
there is no money!Copy !req
335. Plead guilty.
It's painful, I know.Copy !req
336. And go to jail for
a year-and-a-half.Copy !req
337. But your other choice...Copy !req
338. That is no choice at all.Copy !req
339. If you go to trial,
you'll most likely lose.Copy !req
340. And craig goes
to prison for decades.Copy !req
341. Your children will grow up
seeing their dadCopy !req
342. Through bars on visiting day.Copy !req
343. I know what I'd do.Copy !req
344. I'd take the deal.Copy !req
345. Two years from now,
you can be starting over.Copy !req
346. It's tough, I know.Copy !req
347. But you're tough people.Copy !req
348. And your family is worth it.Copy !req
349. Why don't I give you
a few moments
to discuss this?Copy !req
350. I know it's
a big decision.Copy !req
351. We don't need to
discuss it.Copy !req
352. You're fired.Copy !req
353. How 'bout we go
to my office
and discuss this?Copy !req
354. I'm sure
there's a solution.Copy !req
355. That won't be necessary.Copy !req
356. We will no longer be
requiring your services.Copy !req
357. Yeah.
It's not personal. Really.Copy !req
358. If you're unhappy
with what we've
presented to you,Copy !req
359. There may be
other directions
we can go.Copy !req
360. We're done here.
Please stop following us!Copy !req
361. Don't look back, honey.Copy !req
362. Only look forward.
Always in life, look forward.Copy !req
363. O-70.Copy !req
364. O-70.Copy !req
365. Yeah! Seventy is
a good age.Copy !req
366. All right. Duck your heads,
'cause here comes
another number.Copy !req
367. N-32!Copy !req
368. And the action
never stops.Copy !req
369. I hope you all
took your heart pills,Copy !req
370. 'cause it's almost
too much excitement, right?Copy !req
371. Which one will it be?Copy !req
372. Say your prayers,
here it comes.Copy !req
373. All right.Copy !req
374. We've got g-48!Copy !req
375. "g" as in guy lombardo.Copy !req
376. G-48.Copy !req
377. Keep your elbows
to yourselves, okay?
No body checking.Copy !req
378. All right,
what do we have here?Copy !req
379. Wait for it.
(number ball whooshes)Copy !req
380. B-6!
(indistinct conversations)Copy !req
381. Lucky b-6.Copy !req
382. Just like the vitamin,
all right,
which you should be taking.Copy !req
383. Keep things moving
in the old gi tract.Copy !req
384. Bingo!Copy !req
385. (bell dings)
we have a winner!Copy !req
386. Lady luck has struck again!Copy !req
387. Let's see a hand
so we know who's won.Copy !req
388. It's the lovely
young lady in the back!Copy !req
389. Congratulations, miss!
You have won a...Copy !req
390. What do we have
for the lovely lady?Copy !req
391. Notebook.Copy !req
392. Yeah.
It's an adorable notebook.Copy !req
393. Do you like cats, miss...Copy !req
394. Irene! I love kitties.Copy !req
395. I have two siamese cats.Copy !req
396. Oscar and felix.
(cell phone ringing)Copy !req
397. Felix can wash himself.Copy !req
398. Oscar won't.Copy !req
399. He... He just won't!Copy !req
400. (ringing continues)
what a lovely story.
Thank you. Um...Copy !req
401. Can you take that
to irene?Copy !req
402. And when you
come back, cover...
Yeah?Copy !req
403. I'm gonna take a short break,
'cause somebody
needs legal help.Copy !req
404. (in british accent)
offices of james mcgill, esq.
How may I direct your call?Copy !req
405. Yes, yes, of course.
Um, one moment, please.Copy !req
406. Deja vu!
Hello again.
Good to see you.Copy !req
407. Nice to see you.Copy !req
408. So, how may I
be of service?Copy !req
409. We would like to
hire you as our
attorney, mr. Mcgill.Copy !req
410. Wow!Copy !req
411. Really?Copy !req
412. However, we have
certain conditionsCopy !req
413. And these are
not up for debate.Copy !req
414. We want no jail time.
Zero.Copy !req
415. Craig is innocent,
and we expect
you to prove that.Copy !req
416. We won't see
his name smeared
like this any longer.Copy !req
417. Uh, can we back up
just a scooch?Copy !req
418. 'cause last time we spoke,
you were very enthusiastic...Copy !req
419. You were positively
insistent about being
represented by hhm.Copy !req
420. (whispers)
that's all right.Copy !req
421. We've parted ways.Copy !req
422. May I ask why?Copy !req
423. We disagreed with
their defense strategy.Copy !req
424. Okay.Copy !req
425. They treated us
like we were guilty.Copy !req
426. So your previous objections
to my representing you
are now...Copy !req
427. Oh, I'm sorry
about my bluntness
at our last encounter.Copy !req
428. Unfortunate.
Mmm-hmm.Copy !req
429. We really...
We're very sorry
about that.Copy !req
430. We've thought
long and hard
about it and we...Copy !req
431. And, you know,
given your passionCopy !req
432. And your can-do attitude,Copy !req
433. We really...
We just believe thatCopy !req
434. You're the lawyer for us.
For us. Yes.Copy !req
435. Well, as flattered
as I am by this,Copy !req
436. Since we last spoke,
I've changed my area
of specialization.Copy !req
437. So, I concentrate
on elder law now.Copy !req
438. But, I mean,
you said that you
would fight for us.Copy !req
439. You were...
You were adamant.Copy !req
440. You promised to get us
a not-guilty verdict.Copy !req
441. I don't think
I exactly promised that.Copy !req
442. You said
we would be
client number one.Copy !req
443. Morning, noon or night.Copy !req
444. Yes, and I meant what
I said at the time.Copy !req
445. But, times change.Copy !req
446. But we've already
paid you a retainer.Copy !req
447. Right. A retainer.Copy !req
448. That is what you
called it.Copy !req
449. That was your
specific terminology.Copy !req
450. Could you excuse me
for a moment?Copy !req
451. I, uh, had a big gulp
on the way over.
Oh! (chuckles)Copy !req
452. Hey.
Hey there.Copy !req
453. Funny story.Copy !req
454. I found something
that belongs to you.
Again.Copy !req
455. Yeah? What?
Who?Copy !req
456. Picture the 25th hour starring
ned and maude flanders.Copy !req
457. Oh, christ, the kettlemans?Copy !req
458. You lose any other
clients today? Yeah.Copy !req
459. Mr. And mrs. Koo-koo bananas
just offered meCopy !req
460. The plum job of
defending them.Copy !req
461. They came to you?
Yeah, I know.Copy !req
462. I don't know what you did
to piss them off,Copy !req
463. But it must've been good.Copy !req
464. What did they tell you?Copy !req
465. Not much.
Just that you treated themCopy !req
466. Like they were guilty.Copy !req
467. Jesus.Copy !req
468. Look, jimmy. I know...Copy !req
469. I know this is a lot to ask,Copy !req
470. But you have to convince them
to come back to hhm.Copy !req
471. I do, huh?Copy !req
472. Yes. Please.
It's important.
(toilet flushing)Copy !req
473. What's it worth to you?Copy !req
474. Jimmy, I'm serious.Copy !req
475. They left because
they think they can
win this case,Copy !req
476. But they can't.Copy !req
477. I managed to
scrape together,Copy !req
478. From practically nothing,
I might add,Copy !req
479. A deal they should
feel lucky to have.Copy !req
480. This is their
absolute best bet.Copy !req
481. Please.Copy !req
482. Make them understand
it's better for them
if they come back.Copy !req
483. Tell me about this deal.Copy !req
484. Elder law?Copy !req
485. I don't know what that is.Copy !req
486. Yeah, me either.Copy !req
487. Elder...Copy !req
488. Maybe if we were old...
Sorry.Copy !req
489. The mysteries of
the bladder, right?Copy !req
490. So, how do we
get started?Copy !req
491. Do you need us to
sign that little paper?Copy !req
492. I am...
I am very sorry,Copy !req
493. But I'm afraid
I can't take your case.Copy !req
494. My schedule is just...
It's just chock-full
right now.Copy !req
495. I highly encourage you
to go back to hhm.Copy !req
496. I'm certain they
would welcome you
with open arms.Copy !req
497. No, we're not
going back there.Copy !req
498. They were incompatible.Copy !req
499. I understand, they asked you
to face some harsh realities.Copy !req
500. And I get it,
no one likes that.Copy !req
501. But, bottom line here?Copy !req
502. Kim wexler
is a fine attorney.Copy !req
503. She has a great
relationship with the d.A.Copy !req
504. As much as I would love to
sing my own praises,Copy !req
505. I doubt I could get you
a deal as good as the one
she already has.Copy !req
506. Okay. We don't
want a "deal."Copy !req
507. We want you, our lawyer,
to exonerate craig.Copy !req
508. "exonerate." that is...
That is a big word,Copy !req
509. Particularly in your case.Copy !req
510. There will be no deal.Copy !req
511. There is no money
with which to make a deal.Copy !req
512. Can we all three
just parachute down
from cloud-cuckoo-land?Copy !req
513. 'cause we know,
without question,
there is money.Copy !req
514. I distinctly remember
a spirited game of
tug-of-war over this money.Copy !req
515. Money which we then
discussed at length.Copy !req
516. You made many excuses
justifying your possession
of said money.Copy !req
517. It's there, it exists.
But that...Copy !req
518. Shh! Just...
Please, for my own sanity.Copy !req
519. (clears throat)
you can't hide
a big bag of cash forever.Copy !req
520. And you certainly
will never be able to
spend any of it.Copy !req
521. So, go back to hhm.Copy !req
522. Apologize to ms. Wexler,Copy !req
523. And for christ sakes,
take the deal.Copy !req
524. If there were any money...Copy !req
525. Lady! Enough!
IfCopy !req
526. There were any money,Copy !req
527. There would have to be
a full accounting of it.Copy !req
528. Every penny would
have to be present.Copy !req
529. Every single penny.Copy !req
530. You understand?Copy !req
531. All of it.Copy !req
532. That includes
the $30,000 that you...Copy !req
533. Craig, yes, he gets it.
Okay. Okay, he gets it.Copy !req
534. We're in this together,
mr. Mcgill.
Come what may.Copy !req
535. Now, (breathes deeply)
where do we begin?Copy !req
536. There you go. Kettleman.Copy !req
537. That's all of it.
Where's kim?Copy !req
538. We moved her over
to the east wing.Copy !req
539. The east wing?
That's the cornfield.Copy !req
540. Why you sending her
to the cornfield, howard?Copy !req
541. Never heard it
called that before.Copy !req
542. Well, that's what
you call it.Copy !req
543. You're gonna punish her
just 'cause you lostCopy !req
544. Those two batshit
kettlemans?Copy !req
545. You notice I'm
not exactly crowingCopy !req
546. Over how I snaked
'em away from you.Copy !req
547. Jimmy, here are your files.Copy !req
548. I'm not gonna discuss
my employee policies
with you.Copy !req
549. I'm gonna need
some help here.Copy !req
550. Yeah. You sure are.Copy !req
551. That prick firing you?Copy !req
552. Best-case scenario
is my two-year planCopy !req
553. Just became
a 10-year plan.Copy !req
554. That schmuck.
You didn't do
anything wrong.Copy !req
555. I lost the client.Copy !req
556. Not your fault.Copy !req
557. They're not really
playing with a full deck,
those kettlemans.Copy !req
558. You had to
take their case?Copy !req
559. I'm sorry, okay?
I tried.Copy !req
560. I really did.Copy !req
561. I'm not being fair.
Of course you tried.Copy !req
562. They'll do what
they want to do.Copy !req
563. I hope you didn't
promise them too much.Copy !req
564. I doubt you'll be able
to do more for them
than we were offering.Copy !req
565. You think very highly
of my skills, obviously.Copy !req
566. It's not that, jimmy.
It's a loser case.Copy !req
567. That deal was
their best chance.Copy !req
568. After I worked my ass off
finagling with the d.A.,Copy !req
569. It's just, like...Copy !req
570. There's gotta be a way.
You know,
I take it to court...Copy !req
571. You'll lose.Copy !req
572. Kettleman did
a terrible job
covering his tracks.Copy !req
573. For starters,
they've got
reams of checksCopy !req
574. He wrote for
false expenses.Copy !req
575. And I can't even
challenge their admission
into evidenceCopy !req
576. Because he wrote
them to himself.Copy !req
577. I know we're never
supposed to say our
clients are guilty, but...Copy !req
578. Hey, not my client anymore.
He's guilty as sin.Copy !req
579. Yeah, but there
has to be something,
some loophole or...Copy !req
580. None that I could find.Copy !req
581. There has to be a way.Copy !req
582. Not without the money.Copy !req
583. It's the only chip
those kettlemans have,Copy !req
584. And they refuse
to play it.Copy !req
585. (over radio)
In the top
of the second inning.Copy !req
586. First pitch.
Curveball for a strike.Copy !req
587. Jesus, it gets bigger
every time I look at it.Copy !req
588. Thanks for not heading
to the bahamas with this.Copy !req
589. What are you doing?Copy !req
590. "the right thing."Copy !req
591. You know
where you're going?Copy !req
592. Am I correct in assuming
we're now square?Copy !req
593. Square.Copy !req
594. Good morning!Copy !req
595. Who is it, craig?
Oh, it's mr. Mcgill.Copy !req
596. Morning. Come on in.Copy !req
597. Oh, I love what
you've done with the place.Copy !req
598. Last time I was here,
it was, uh...Copy !req
599. Well, not a contender
for the cover of
good housekeeping,Copy !req
600. That's for sure.
(both chuckle)Copy !req
601. Do you have news
about our case?Copy !req
602. I do, in fact.Copy !req
603. But before we get
to the nitty-gritty,Copy !req
604. I think we should
chat about your deal.Copy !req
605. We told you,
there will be no deal.Copy !req
606. You did, didn't you?Copy !req
607. However, circumstances
have changed.Copy !req
608. What circumstances?Copy !req
609. To answer that, uh,Copy !req
610. Might I suggest that
you go check on that moneyCopy !req
611. You insist
you didn't take.Copy !req
612. That's...Copy !req
613. In the upstairs bathroom,
under the sink.Copy !req
614. Wait. How could you...Copy !req
615. Betsy...Copy !req
616. No!
No, no, no, no, no, no!Copy !req
617. It's okay, betsy.
It's gotta be...Copy !req
618. It's gotta be
in there somewhere.Copy !req
619. What did you do with it?Copy !req
620. By "it," you mean...Copy !req
621. Where is it?Copy !req
622. Oh!Copy !req
623. You mean the money?Copy !req
624. Uh, let me see.Copy !req
625. It's on its way
to the d.A.'s desk,
right about now.Copy !req
626. You... You thief.Copy !req
627. Takes one to know one,
doesn't it?
You took it?Copy !req
628. How did you take it?Copy !req
629. A good magician
never reveals his secrets.Copy !req
630. Now, here's what
we're gonna do...Copy !req
631. Oh, you don't
tell us what to do!
You stole from us.Copy !req
632. We'll... We will
have you arrested!Copy !req
633. I can see
how upset you are.Copy !req
634. And even on a good day,
you and logic are...Copy !req
635. But think about
what you just said.Copy !req
636. Criminals have no recourse.Copy !req
637. And you two?
You're criminals.
Big-time.Copy !req
638. How dare you.Copy !req
639. Luckily, you have
a very talented lawyerCopy !req
640. Who has found a way
to minimize the damageCopy !req
641. You've brought
upon yourselves.
(scoffs)Copy !req
642. Oh, you're fired.Copy !req
643. I quit. Already.Copy !req
644. No, I'm talking about
kim wexler.Copy !req
645. Now, you're gonna
go back to her.Copy !req
646. You're going to apologize
for your hasty decisionCopy !req
647. To terminate her services.Copy !req
648. Then you're gonna
fall on her mercy
and take that deal.Copy !req
649. We'll tell about
the bribe you took.Copy !req
650. You could do that.Copy !req
651. You absolutely could.
And I'd be in
a mess of trouble.Copy !req
652. A real pickle.Copy !req
653. But so would you,
mrs. Kettleman.Copy !req
654. 'cause right now,
only mr. Kettleman
is on the hookCopy !req
655. For the whole
embezzlement kerfuffle.Copy !req
656. But the bribe...
We're back to
calling it a bribe?Copy !req
657. Yeah, that implicates
you as well.Copy !req
658. It does not.Copy !req
659. It was all me.
No, it wasn't.Copy !req
660. I'll make sure
everyone knows that.Copy !req
661. Look on the bright side,Copy !req
662. You know, they could
work out some kind ofCopy !req
663. Inter-prison
visitation program.Copy !req
664. The occasional conjugal.
Maybe it won't be all bad.Copy !req
665. You, you'll probably wind up
running your own gang.Copy !req
666. Thing you folks
need to know about me?Copy !req
667. I got nothing to lose.Copy !req
668. Christ, you should
see my office.Copy !req
669. No, it's not over.Copy !req
670. Let's find
another lawyer.
Betsy...Copy !req
671. No. No. No.Copy !req
672. We don't have to
put up with this.Copy !req
673. I will not be
treated this way.Copy !req
674. Betsy!Copy !req
675. The kids.Copy !req
676. We have to
do this for the kids.Copy !req
677. They can't lose us both.Copy !req
678. (whispers)
we have to.
No!Copy !req
679. It's okay.Copy !req
680. It's okay.
(continues shushing)Copy !req
681. (mouthing) thank you.Copy !req
682. (in british accent)
law offices of
james m. Mcgill,Copy !req
683. How may I
direct your call?Copy !req
