1. Now the story of a wealthy family
who lost everything...Copy !req
2. and the one son
who had no choice...Copy !req
3. but to keep them all together.Copy !req
4. It's Arrested Development.Copy !req
5. Michael was surprised to find the house...Copy !req
6. still a mess a week
after the fumigation.Copy !req
7. You still haven't put this stuff back yet?
You've got to be the laziest person in the world.Copy !req
8. If you weren't all the way on the other side
of the room, I'd slap your face.Copy !req
9. - I asked you to clean this up.
- Yeah, and you also asked me
to call the fumigators...Copy !req
10. and you haven't even thanked me
for doing that.Copy !req
11. Michael had asked her
to do this, but that was long before...Copy !req
12. he began hiding his fugitive father
in the attic.Copy !req
13. What? Uh- Oh, God.Copy !req
14. Polly, cover your mouth!Copy !req
15. Luckily, Michael was notified in time.Copy !req
16. Well, we had a deal, you know. I'd pay
for everything, and you'd clean the house.Copy !req
17. - And you've only done it once.
- She hadn't even done it that time...Copy !req
18. - but instead, intercepted
her mother's housekeeper...Copy !req
19. - as she was arriving for work.
- Can I take you the rest of the way?Copy !req
20. - Mrs.- Mrs.-
- Oh, I have to make one quick stop first.Copy !req
21. Almost done. Yours or mister's?Copy !req
22. Mister's.Copy !req
23. Lupe never accepted a ride from Lindsay again.Copy !req
24. Well, I'm sorry, Michael,
but Tobias moving out hasn't been easy.Copy !req
25. For any of us.Copy !req
26. You didn't even notice he'd gone,
did you?Copy !req
27. I did notice we'd stopped TiVoing
The Christopher Lowell Show.Copy !req
28. - What happened?
- I tried to give it one last chance.Copy !req
29. - Like what you see?
- I've been looking for those.Copy !req
30. - You're gonna stretch them out.
- That's all you can say?Copy !req
31. Well, excuse me for liking the way
they shape my junk.Copy !req
32. I don't know why, but that's it.Copy !req
33. You can pack your junk
and get out.Copy !req
34. You're kicking me out?
At the beginning of pilot season?Copy !req
35. You're not gonna make it as an actor,
and we're not gonna make it as a couple.Copy !req
36. With nowhere to go,
Tobias went to the studio...Copy !req
37. where he'd occasionally worked
as a security guard and took up residence...Copy !req
38. in the apartment of Detective Frank Wrench,
on the set of the television show...Copy !req
39. Wrench.Copy !req
40. I'm really sorry to hear that.
How's Maeby taking it?Copy !req
41. - Well, she's really hard to read.
- You haven't told her yet.Copy !req
42. Well, she was so excited the hot water
in the shower was lasting longer.Copy !req
43. How could I have the heart to tell her
it's because her father moved out?Copy !req
44. Tobias moved out?Copy !req
45. - Did he take the good video camera with him?
- That's touching.Copy !req
46. - What do you need the camera for?
- I'm making a magic video.Copy !req
47. I'm gonna tape myself
doing tricks around the office.Copy !req
48. I'm calling it Tricks-
Let me finish- around the Office.Copy !req
49. I figured out a way to
make money while I'm working.Copy !req
50. That is what we call working. Something
you might wanna try next time you're at the office.Copy !req
51. You've been missing things lately.
I'm gettin'real tired of it.Copy !req
52. Incidentally, today we're having a big vote
on that building renovation.Copy !req
53. - I need you there to help me vote it in.
- Fine. I'll vote...Copy !req
54. as long as
you give me the camera.Copy !req
55. I think we all know
that George Michael was using it last.Copy !req
56. A fact the family had discovered
when they'd gathered to watch a home video.Copy !req
57. Was that a 40th anniversary party, huh?
Didn't cost us a thing.Copy !req
58. Is that Qusay Hussein
at the omelet bar?Copy !req
59. Look at this. If these guys move,
they don't get paid.Copy !req
60. It seems that as a 13-year-old,
George Michael had been...Copy !req
61. heavily influenced
by the Star Wars films...Copy !req
62. and had endeavored to
re-create his favorite moments.Copy !req
63. - You're not my father! You'll never be!
- I spent $2.1 million...Copy !req
64. of good company money
and end up with this?Copy !req
65. - You cut off my hand!
Worth every penny.Copy !req
66. Even you have to admit that
that was the lamest thing ever put on tape.Copy !req
67. Not so. Buster
had once videotaped himself...Copy !req
68. re-creating moments from his
then favorite film, Chicago.Copy !req
69. - He also liked Star Wars.Copy !req
70. His self-esteem is low enough as it is,
and I have no idea why.Copy !req
71. I mean, he's such a great kid, and
everybody loves him. He's George Michael!Copy !req
72. Truthfully, that's why I'm not that crazy
about that Ann, but he'll move on.Copy !req
73. Unless he knocks her up like you did
with his mother. Plus, she's religious.Copy !req
74. If that one gets pregnant,
it stays pregnant.Copy !req
75. Believe me. I dated a chick like that
once in high school.Copy !req
76. No, I didn't.Copy !req
77. I gotta work
on that boy's self-esteem.Copy !req
78. Michael went to do so,
only to hear Ann beating him to it.Copy !req
79. - I want you to do it.
- I don't think I'm ready.Copy !req
80. - Of course you are.
- I'm gonna lose it before I start.Copy !req
81. Don't start!Copy !req
82. Smoking. It's a killer. That Sammy Davis Jr.
Should still be performing.Copy !req
83. - What's going on?
- Ann thinks I should run
for student body president.Copy !req
84. - That's a great idea.
- Well, I don't have a chance.Copy !req
85. - They only vote for the cool kids.
- But everyone loves you.Copy !req
86. You are George Michael!
Who's cooler than you?Copy !req
87. Plus, you would be following
in your old man's footsteps.Copy !req
88. - You were student body president?
- Oh-ho.Copy !req
89. - It was close.
- So you lost.Copy !req
90. - Who remembers?
- I know I would remember.Copy !req
91. Ann, if my dad says
that he won, then he won.Copy !req
92. Didn't say I won.
Said I can't remember.Copy !req
93. But now that we're thinking about it, I seem
to remember the other guy won the title...Copy !req
94. although there were plenty in the school
who wanted to overturn the decision.Copy !req
95. I said, "Let's- Do not- Let's not
put the school through that."Copy !req
96. Haven't thought about that for years.
Good memory.Copy !req
97. Well, anyway, I'll help you run your campaign
and make your commercial for election day.Copy !req
98. Well, that's great.
The important thing is...Copy !req
99. to raise the old self-esteem and not
to rush a physical relationship.Copy !req
100. - Those are really the two important things.
- No. We're both waiting.Copy !req
101. - Good.
- And then that first time,
after waiting and waiting-Copy !req
102. It's gonna be so awesome, because it's not
just gonna be my love and George Michael's...Copy !req
103. but God's love as well.Copy !req
104. - God, it's gonna be incredible.
- All right. I'll do it. I'm in.Copy !req
105. - Campaign?
- I'm pumped.Copy !req
106. As George Michael was
on the path to higher self-esteem...Copy !req
107. Buster was losing
what little he had.Copy !req
108. I can't put the aorta in
with this thing.Copy !req
109. Oh, stop complaining.Copy !req
110. - Buster!
- I'm sorry I'm an inconvenience to you, Mother.Copy !req
111. Oh, God! Oh, God! Oh!Copy !req
112. - As Lupe felt sorry...Copy !req
113. for Buster's loss of a hand,
Lindsay felt sorry for her loss of Lupe.Copy !req
114. Lindsay had cleaned one room
and now had a garbage problem.Copy !req
115. - And while looking for a spot to stash the refuse...Copy !req
116. She came upon an old friend.Copy !req
117. I haven't seen this in ages. EBay.Copy !req
118. Unfortunately,
it was a new friend to George Sr.Copy !req
119. Polly!Copy !req
120. Back at the office, Michael came
to regret having given Gob the video camera.Copy !req
121. Well, I certainly
appreciate your decision...Copy !req
122. but if my brother was here,
we could've voted this thing through.Copy !req
123. What's this?
A stuffy office meeting?Copy !req
124. Well, maybe it's time
for a little... Office Magic.Copy !req
125. - What's "office magic"?
- Sometimes it's as simple as turning 10:45...Copy !req
126. in the morning into lunchtime!Copy !req
127. - Okay.
- Why does lunch have to be so dull?Copy !req
128. Maybe you'd
prefer some chicken instead!Copy !req
129. All right. Let's cut.
Take five, everybody.Copy !req
130. - No, no. We're not takin' five.
Hey, is this guy with you?
- Yeah, he's an actor.Copy !req
131. Well, you know, I thought
he was an investor. He voted against me...Copy !req
132. which is the vote I asked you
to be here for, so-Copy !req
133. You know what? I don't know why, but that's it.
I don't think I can work with you anymore.Copy !req
134. - You kind of have to, guy. I'm the president.
- No. I'm the president.Copy !req
135. No. You lost the presidency, just like you did
in high school when you refused to play dirty.Copy !req
136. - Worked when I ran.
- We're talkin' about the office here, okay?Copy !req
137. I do all the work. I've been helping you.
That's over now.Copy !req
138. Sorry to hear you say that, Michael,
'cause it just cost you your job.Copy !req
139. - I'm serious. It's over.
- How do you call Security on this thing?Copy !req
140. - You hit pound-zero-zero to operate the system.
- Pound is tic-tac-toe, right?Copy !req
141. - Yeah. Pound is right-
- When I keep hitting that, the other thing flashes.Copy !req
142. - Hit pound and then zero-zero.
- I do. I know.Copy !req
143. Tell you what. You don't need to learn
the system, because you're out of here.Copy !req
144. You're fired.Copy !req
145. Have Security send a man up.Copy !req
146. You've got the wrong guy.Copy !req
147. Uh, no, you don't,
but you don't have to do this.Copy !req
148. But the guard had recently
lost halfhis tie to Office Magic.Copy !req
149. - Oh, I don't mind.
- Get this. You getting this?Copy !req
150. Cheat out.
You have to cheat out a little bit.Copy !req
151. - Oh, hey.
- What was that all about?Copy !req
152. Your uncle doesn't
not-work here anymore.Copy !req
153. - So I guess your mom told you
about your dad moving out, huh?
- No, she did not tell me that.Copy !req
154. - Oh.
- But she doesn't tell me anything.Copy !req
155. - Neither of them do.
- Sorry. Guess I shouldn't have said anything.Copy !req
156. Maybe I should just start
keeping some secrets of my own.Copy !req
157. Why aren't you at school right now?Copy !req
158. Marry me.Copy !req
159. I'm so sorry.
I forgot who I was talking to.Copy !req
160. I was just using your copier
to make some campaign posters.Copy !req
161. Well, then, by all means,
let me help you out.Copy !req
162. I mean, I don't even know why I'm doing it.
He's gonna win by a landslide.Copy !req
163. - That's what I was tellin' him.
- How do you know Steve Holt?Copy !req
164. - Are you in A.A.?
- I was talkin' about George Michael.Copy !req
165. He's running for student body president.
Who's Steve Holt?Copy !req
166. He's just the hottest guy in school.
And he's won three years in a row-Copy !req
167. every year after his first junior year.Copy !req
168. So, then, he's more popular
than George Michael?Copy !req
169. Well, that's like comparing apples
and some fruit nobody's ever heard of.Copy !req
170. He might even finish
after the Indian kid.Copy !req
171. I guess I gotta get down to the school
and see if I can stop him from signing up, huh?Copy !req
172. Yes. You have to. And do you think you could
put up a couple of these when you're there...Copy !req
173. 'cause I was really not
in the mood to go down there.Copy !req
174. Michael went to take care of his son...Copy !req
175. as Lucille discovered that hers
was already being taken care of.Copy !req
176. - Mother!
- And yet you're too good
to polish the candlesticks?Copy !req
177. - You're fired!
- You can't fire me. I'm your son.Copy !req
178. - I'm firing you!
- I was firing Lupe!Copy !req
179. Well, that makes more sense.Copy !req
180. - Lindsay came upon Lupe, who'djust been fired.
- I no clean for family anymore.Copy !req
181. Can't you at least
come over and DustBuster or something?Copy !req
182. - I no does Buster anymore.
- Fine.Copy !req
183. I'll DustBuster! God.Copy !req
184. - Hello?
- Hey. I can't talk loudly.Copy !req
185. I'm in the bathroom of the Wrench set,
and they've started shooting.Copy !req
186. - Also, I don't think this is a real toilet.Copy !req
187. So I just wanted to check on Maeby
and tell you that I haven't landed a part yet...Copy !req
188. but despite what you may think,
my talent shall win out.Copy !req
189. Well, Maeby's fine. We've been looking
for a cleaning lady, so if you hear of one-Copy !req
190. - Shh- Shh.
- ... dirty cop,
so Frank Wrench is gonna clean ya.Copy !req
191. - Why is this door locked?
- [Man #2] Cut!Copy !req
192. - Is somebody using the set bathroom?
- I gotta go.Copy !req
193. Michael arrived at school
to talk his son out of running for office.Copy !req
194. It took me all day, but I got the 10 signatures.
I'm running for student body president.Copy !req
195. - Listen, George Michael-
- We're gonna use your idea
and highlight being chaste.Copy !req
196. I just meant you two shouldn't-
You're not gonna put up this poster, are you?Copy !req
197. It's really gonna appeal
to the Christian crowd.Copy !req
198. I couldn't have done this without you guys.
I'm gonna win this thing.Copy !req
199. Four more years! Four more years!Copy !req
200. Four more years!
Four more years!Copy !req
201. And Gob showed up at his mother's.Copy !req
202. - Well, guess who's been fired.
- Michael fired you?Copy !req
203. No. I fired him. As a result,
I'm no longer welcome in the office.Copy !req
204. What a coincidence.
I just fired my housekeeper...Copy !req
205. but I've already found a replacement.Copy !req
206. - It's a robot.Copy !req
207. - I hate it. I miss Lupe.
- No. I won't let you go down that road.Copy !req
208. I want you to be strong, and you don't
need the comfort of an immigrant...Copy !req
209. in Mother's old stirrup pants
to make you feel that way.Copy !req
210. - Oh.
- [Powers Down, Beeps]Copy !req
211. - Ohh, you're hungry.Copy !req
212. - Lindsay was about
to find a replacement for Lupe as well.
- Who is it?Copy !req
213. The new housekeeper. The agency sent me over.Copy !req
214. I'm sorry. I didn't call any-Copy !req
215. Oh, allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Phyllidia Featherbottom...Copy !req
216. and I can cook and I can clean
and I can take care of the little ones.Copy !req
217. I can also sing a song or two,
if it comes in handy.Copy !req
218. When you put a squirt
of frosting on your throatCopy !req
219. Before we take
our medicationsCopy !req
220. Tobias had gained access to
the studio's wardrobe and makeup department.Copy !req
221. He was eager
to both see his daughter...Copy !req
222. and prove to his wife
that he had what it took to be an actor.Copy !req
223. - It was the exact plot of the film Mrs. Doubtfire.
- In the most delicious wayCopy !req
224. - There was also
some Mary Poppins in there.
- Let's get this house cleaned.Copy !req
225. Hey. Lindsay,
the place looks fantastic.Copy !req
226. - What? Did you pay somebody to do this?
- Oh, I've no need for payment.Copy !req
227. The love of the family
is more than enough.Copy !req
228. I'm sorry.
This is Mrs. Featherbottom.Copy !req
229. From Blackstone.
I'm charmed, I'm sure.Copy !req
230. [High-pitched Giggle]
Ooh!Copy !req
231. Back to work.Copy !req
232. - I think he misses his daughter.
- That's convenient...Copy !req
233. considering you didn't even have the courage
to tell Maeby that he'd moved out.Copy !req
234. I'm sorry.
I'm not the perfect parent, like you.Copy !req
235. I'm not that perfect. I pushed George Michael
into running for office...Copy !req
236. and I think he's gonna
get crushed by this kid Steve Holt.Copy !req
237. Yeah. I'd vote for Steve.
Too bad Dad's on the lam.Copy !req
238. You could finally use some of his dirty tricks
to get George Michael elected.Copy !req
239. - As it happens,
George Sr. Had come to...Copy !req
240. in the attic, and perhaps it was the effect
oflosing his one friend-Copy !req
241. - Polly?
- or the lingering effects of the fumigation-Copy !req
242. or perhaps it really was
divine intervention-Copy !req
243. - but he'd had a profound realization.Copy !req
244. Unfortunately, the timing
of the enlightenment wasn't ideal for Michael.Copy !req
245. - That's why I need your help.
- "Our Heavenly Father let his son die...Copy !req
246. so that our sins
could be absolved."Copy !req
247. - Great. So you're a Christian now.
- "We must all seek forgiveness."Copy !req
248. Well, I'll call the warden for you.
You can ask him yourself.Copy !req
249. Well, I think that's for fresh crimes.
Besides, you've always tried to lead a clean life.Copy !req
250. You and Gob were like
those biblical brothers, Gallant and, um-Copy !req
251. "Goofuth."Copy !req
252. Michael realized he had lived like Gallant...Copy !req
253. and ifhe wanted
to help his son's election...Copy !req
254. he would have to find...
Goofuth.Copy !req
255. - Been lookin' all over for you, pal.
- If you came to grovel...Copy !req
256. for the job of president,
you're too late.Copy !req
257. - My brother already fired me.
- Listen, I'm really sorry that I got upset with you...Copy !req
258. you know, and I never meant to, um-
I didn't even mean to fire you.Copy !req
259. You know, and I never meant to, um-
I didn't even mean to fire you.Copy !req
260. You know? I just got so frustrated,
and, Gob, you are my brother.Copy !req
261. - Of course I'm gonna support you.
- Well...Copy !req
262. now I feel bad for firing you.Copy !req
263. Listen, George Michael is running
for student body president...Copy !req
264. and I have a feeling
he's gonna get slaughtered.Copy !req
265. The guy he's running against
is basically a young you.Copy !req
266. Wow. It won't be easy
to win a race against myself.Copy !req
267. - Of course, if anyone can do it, I can.
- That's right.Copy !req
268. - I wish I was 15 years younger.
- He doesn't need to beat him.Copy !req
269. - He just needs to beat the Indian kid.
- If I do this, you'll rehire me?Copy !req
270. - Of course I will.
- The mere fact that you think you can...Copy !req
271. says to me
that I shouldn't let you.Copy !req
272. Course,
we both need the work.Copy !req
273. Robot'll get it.Copy !req
274. Where the hell is my maid?
Robot!Copy !req
275. - But the robot was busy elsewhere.Copy !req
276. - What do you expect, Mother? I'm half machine!Copy !req
277. I'm a monster!Copy !req
278. Michael brought Gob in
to consult on his son's campaign.Copy !req
279. Focus on the video and shy away
from the virgin thing.Copy !req
280. Oh, we should definitely
sacrifice the whole virgin thing.Copy !req
281. And I got the perfect way.Copy !req
282. We hand out rubbers that say,
"We salute George Michael."Copy !req
283. - We're not supposed to have help.
- I don't wanna make Steve look bad.Copy !req
284. Yeah, I just don't want my son to be
embarrassed up there. Let's not play too dirty.Copy !req
285. - Uh, good point, two percent.
- Two percent, huh? Is that how little I lost by?Copy !req
286. - Lost by? That's all you got.
- Not really important.Copy !req
287. Well, if your son wants more than two percent,
he's gonna have to go after Steve Holt.Copy !req
288. So I want you to tell me every awful rumor
you've ever heard about this kid.Copy !req
289. I can't support this,
and neither can the Christian kids...Copy !req
290. - that were gonna make you president.
- Uh-Copy !req
291. Ann? I think
she's really upset about this.Copy !req
292. She'll forgive ya.
You're George Michael.Copy !req
293. - Meanwhile...Copy !req
294. Maeby was meeting
her new singing nanny.Copy !req
295. Now. Take your Fun-fun.Copy !req
296. This is my mom's, and it's fen-phen,
and it's been banned by the F.D.A.Copy !req
297. Oh! Well.
You should always read the labelCopy !req
298. You should always read it well
in the most delicious wayCopy !req
299. - Mr. Fingerbottom?
- Mrs.Copy !req
300. Right. Mrs.
I should really get going.Copy !req
301. No, no, no, no, no.
Sit back. What's the rush? Please.Copy !req
302. I wanna hear about you.
Tell me about your family.Copy !req
303. I'm sure wherever your father is right now,
she loves you very, very much.Copy !req
304. Not enough to be honest
with me.Copy !req
305. And after a few days, Gob was ready...Copy !req
306. to unveil
George Michael's new message.Copy !req
307. Drought, starvation-Copy !req
308. These are the things my family
has had to deal with for generations...Copy !req
309. although, fortunately,
not since we moved to Corona del Mar.Copy !req
310. - Go home, you terrorist!Copy !req
311. How stupid do you have to be
to say something like that?Copy !req
312. - You're not wanted here!
- Gob.Copy !req
313. - Michael.
- You got George Michael's tape?Copy !req
314. Yeah. I gave it to the tech guy.
Don't worry. It's very tastefully done.Copy !req
315. - Sure you didn't make that video in a cave?Copy !req
316. - Perennial candidate Steve Holt!
- Soon it was time...Copy !req
317. for Steve Holt to play his video...Copy !req
318. which had been produced
by his new campaign manager, Ann Veal.Copy !req
319. - Hi. I'm Steve Holt.
